The Multi-Cultural Greek Council is the umbrella organization for multicultural, African American, Latino(a) and Asian Greek letter organizations here at TAMUCC. Serving as the governing body of these organizations whose sole purpose is to promote community service, social activities, co-sponsor education and cultural forms, and promote awareness through involvement in the local community. Alpha Phi Alpha (APhiA)
Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African-Americans, was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of Brotherhood among African descents in this country. Nickname: APhiA or Alphas

General information

PURPOSE AND GOALS PURPOSE The purpose of the Multicultural Greek Council shall be to serve as a support system among Multicultural Greek organizations. MGC maintains high standards by promoting student leadership, service, academics, and cultural diversity. Further, MGC shall serve as a liaison between all Greek councils and overall enrich Greek life. GOALS The major goals shall be: 1) To promote unification and support of the Greek Community, 2) To promote cultural awareness to the campus population, and 3) To effectively represent the organizations of the council. We will achieve these goals by: 1) Increasing the membership size of MGC, 2) Through collaborations with Greeks, non-Greeks, departmental orgs and the campus community, and 3) Serve as a recruitment resource for members and candidates for membership.
