Removal of barriers to interstate practice by health professions is a SLOW process. The American national OT Compact is still writing its own rules, and the states that didn't join yet are not coauthors. Oregon is not leading here... I was kinda hoping this would happen before I retired...I turn down families in need of peadiatric OT services weekly because where they live has regulatory barriers: each state requires two months processing time, hundreds of MY dollars, yet again fingerprinting (I've been fingerprinted to verify I'm not a criminal more than 25 times, which I'm guessing is many more times than your average serial killer...), and MY time for license application paperwork and renewal every two years in every single state where I'm licensed. It's exhausting, expensive, and a lot of regulatory duplication that could be streamlined.

According to the NYTimes:
"Stimulants, such as amphetamines and other drugs used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, may increase the risk of heat-related illnesses by interacting with the central nervous system and brain to raise body temperature, said Dr. Mahesh Polavarapu, the medical director of emergency medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester."
