Caring for an autistic child can be one of the most demanding and most underserved roles in the world.
Caregivers — parents, grandparents, siblings, partners — often carry that role with little formal support, high burnout rates, and significant mental health challenges of their own.
The World Health Organisation has developed a free Caregiver Skills Training programme specifically for families of children with autism and developmental disabilities. It teaches practical, evidence-based strategies for supporting communication, managing daily challenges, and reducing caregiver stress — all at your own pace, from home.
It has already been piloted in over 30 countries. It requires no prior professional training. And it costs nothing.
How to access:
1. Create a free WHO Academy account
2. Search “Caregiver Skills Training”
3. Click Enrol
If you’re a caregiver, or know one who needs support — this is worth sharing.
