Motivation has come and gone during this quarantine. At first I was determined to not let Covid-19 bring me down and soon it got to me just like it did everyone else. I didnāt want to pick up any weights. I wanted to binge watch Netflix and forget I couldnāt lift real weight in the gym. I wanted to eat junk and sweets to make me feel better because I was feeling down. I drank more. I ate more. My anxiety increased and I felt bloated all the time.

But Iāve reached a little turning point in the last week or so. My mental health is something worth fighting for and Iāve been neglecting it. So Iām getting back on track with a new normal. Because I think the hardest part is holding onto the reality before all this happened. But that reality is no longer and we have to adapt to what currently is. So Iāve slowly started to eat better and enjoy working out in a different way. Iāve learned to let go of what was normal and accept that I need to create a new version of it. And these are some of my the things that have been helping me:
1. If I donāt feel like working out, I wonāt. I only do it when I enjoy it and push myself further when my motivation is high
2. Make sure to move everyday for an extended period of time. Whether thatās deep cleaning or organizing in the house, washing my car or going for a nice walk outside in the sun. Anything is better than nothing and helps my body feel good
3. Eat a good breakfast to start the day. Protein and fiber are important to keep my digestive system happy and full
4. Circuit workouts to make the time pass quickly with so many reps. It also is more challenging with light weight and I hate boring workouts where I donāt push myself
5. Journal and meditate every day like itās my religion. It helps me get organized for the day and keep my hyper-active brain in check
6. Not worrying so much about weight gain, but rather focusing on how much nutritious food Iām eating in comparison to junk food or processed food
7. Making time for new learning that I wasnāt doing before covid-19. Like trying new recipes for baking chicken or making my own oatmilk instead of buying it, or painting my own nails or looking up diy house projects
