So one of my most favorite activities at YL’s convention this summer was the Science Symposium!! I signed up the moment I could. I LOVE learning about new things and typically YL doesn’t disappoint. The opportunity to learn about new things and to gain a deeper understanding of current/future products is exciting for me! The symposium did not disappoint!! We ended up with a cool box of new/future product samples as well as some other fun things. Last weekend I tried this delicious pre workout drink. It was even a bit fizzy, honestly my pictures don’t do it justice. It’s a beautiful red color! I’m super excited for it to come out!!

I recently learned that “fragrance” on a label can mean up to 3,000 undisclosed chemicals. No wonder so many people get headaches or allergies from perfume. (Me! I was one of those people years ago when I couldn’t understand why I was always having migraines and allergy symptoms. I had good days and bad days and I was a BABW ju**ie) Let’s talk about what ‘natural’ actually means when it comes to fragrance and ingredient transparency. I’ll be honest I haven’t worn comerically made perfume/body sprays for years. I’ve been DIYing it or just going without. Each one of these bottles have 6 scent profiles from natural ingredients that are amazing blended together. Just about everything on their labels I can say and know what it is without having to decifier the ingredients. The one scent that totally threw me for a loop was hay. Hay, I would have never guessed that it was an actual ingredient in a perfume. Now that I know, it makes sense to me that from time to time thats really what I do smell, it’s a beautiful part of the scent. Growing up on a Kansas farm it really makes sense that I was drawn to that specific perfume, obviously my subconscious noticed something the conscious part of me did not. I’ve had no trouble wearing these perfumes to work, or out and about, at least not complaints to my face. I don’t get headaches with them either. Huge win!!!! I love the way they lift up my mood. Life often gets messy and unpredictable, things don’t always go the way you expect. I once won this beautiful marble top table at an auction the marvel was gorgeous, one solid piece, not really a green, not really a black, just a swirl of a unique color. The table top edges got ruined, ended up with some water damage so I decided I would see if I could talk my woodworking family into helping me make a different table top using the marble piece. Unfortunately I ended up breaking the marble (it was just a thin slab) as I was trying to remove the damaged wood edges. I thought for sure I was just going to end up tossing the broken pieces into my rock garden and figuring out something else to do the the metal stand. Then my Sugar Bear decided he wanted to take a shot at making the table top, utilizing the Japanese method of Kintsugi. We both smashed up the marble top into smaller pieces and he took them home. A couple months later he returned with this beautiful piece. I love it way more than the original. I’ve come to realize that sometimes making the hard decisions , making better choices, while painful in the beginning often leads to something much more beautiful.

Sometimes it’s the little things that matter the most! I had the most wonderful mail today, a card from a neighbor just checking in after hearing about my accident and noticing that my little man hasn’t been around this summer. I think the little man and I will have to do something special this weekend for her. It was a long summer without our little Shotgun around, he made it home Tuesday and gets to spend the weekend with us! I’m rather excited!!
