Why we must address stress when working with clients in pain

Stress keeps the nervous system upregulated, which can amplify pain. When we help clients (and ourselves) downshift into safety, the body can finally heal.

Try my *5-Minute Reset Tool for Teachers* to calm your own nervous system before class. You’ll show up grounded, present, and ready to hold space for your clients.”

DM RESET and Ill send the tool over.

Ever freeze up when a client says they’re in pain and you’re not sure what to say next?

You’re not alone. So many teachers feel that way, but with the right words, you can help your clients feel safe, supported, and capable again.

Here are three simple Pilates teaching scripts you can use right away to cue clients in pain with confidence.

And if you want to go deeper into understanding the nervous system and how to create safety before strength, join me for *Teaching Clients in Pain* 11/13 at 12 PM MT this week. It’s a 90-minute live workshop that will completely change how you teach.

DM WORKSHOP, and I'll send the link.

Breathe in strength, exhale stress- My favorite reminder and my weekly check-in.

Time to reflect on your strengths of the week:
-What was your favorite part of the week? Why?
- What’s one “aha” you had while teaching this week?
- Did a client say something that reminded you *why* you love this work?
- What movement cue or approach helped your client feel safe today?

Have the best weekend!

Sore joints. Tight muscles.
They’re not random — they’re messages.

When you know how to interpret what the body is telling you, you can exercise and teach movement with confidence and clarity.

Join me for my live 90-minute Teaching Clients in Pain workshop, where I’ll teach you the 3 core strategies every movement professional needs when working with someone who has pain.

Comment ‘WORKSHOP’ to join me! I can’t wait. 💛

Most people stretch their spine or hamstrings to ease a tight back — but there can be tension that starts below, in the feet 👣

A quick plantar fascia release improves posterior-chain mobility and helps your core engage with less resistance.

Try this: Roll out each foot for one minute on the SpineFitter ( or swim noodle or myofasical release ball), then test your roll-down or bridge. Feel the difference?

WHY THIS WORKS 🤔
The fascia under your feet connects up through your calves, hamstrings, and to the top of the spine — one long line of support and tension.

When your feet move better, your whole back line can lengthen, your posture resets, and your nervous system feels safer to move.

I roll out my feet with patient for:
• Back pain relief
• Balance training (eyes down → eyes forward)
• Foot, knee, or hip pain
• Postural awareness and core activation

There of course many ways to do this. I am using a spine fitter which is amazing for so many things and you can also use swim noodle, tennis balls or firm myofasical release balls for specific points on the feet 🦶

Do you release your feet to support your core?

DM me FEET and I’ll send you my favorite foot ball release video, free!

Confidence isn’t constant; it’s a result of body-mind alignment and routine practice.

For the past year, I have been managing a knee injury and a new lower back injury. I have realized how much stress can disrupt my training and confidence. It’s easy to lose clarity and feel stuck when you don’t know what’s really causing the pain, which exercises are best and in what order, or how to move forward with a plan.

I’ve been learning (and I’m also able to run again!) that the key is to pause, tune into the nervous system, and find one small win that rebuilds trust in the body.

Here is my process:
🧠 Support the nervous system
🧠 Get clarity on what your body needs with a full body assessment
🧠 Have an intentional plan that delivers results.
