Sometimes it’s the small fixes that make a big difference.

We recently got a call for a family stone at Mineola Cemetery in Oak Township that had pushed over on its base and was no longer centered. We went in and carefully reset the monument so it’s properly aligned front to back and side to side — solid and back where it belongs.

Mineola Cemetery, located in the old Plumer Settlement, dates back to the late 1800s and has deep ties to St. John’s Lutheran Church and the early Salem Lutheran community. Many of the older stones even carry German inscriptions, which is always neat to see and preserve.

If you’ve been meaning to get a stone fixed, there’s still time before Memorial Day. Whether it’s something small like this or a larger project, we’re here to help.

Well, another one in the books at Flint Cemetery!
Established around 1875, this historic cemetery just west of Griswold got some much-needed attention. We wrapped up restoring, repairing, leveling, and reconstructing several monuments that had shifted or weathered over time — and the before and after's really show the difference.

Flint Cemetery has some great history behind it. Originally known as the Rhode Island Bridge Burial Ground, the land was donated by John Flint and his wife Mary Pierson. It was first located on the west side of the road before being moved to its current location and renamed. The very first burial was a young girl traveling west by covered wagon — a reminder of just how far back this place goes.

There’s even a veteran of the War of 1812 buried here, born in the mid 1700s, along with generations of families that helped shape the area. It’s always an honor to work in places with that kind of history.

Whether it’s a full cemetery project like this or just one family stone, we handle every job with the same care and craftsmanship.

Sometimes it’s the small fixes that make a big difference.

We recently received a call about a family stone at Lewis Township Cemetery that was starting to experience dirt washout around the base. To correct the issue, we carefully cut down the surrounding grade to improve water flow, replaced the eroding soil, and packed everything back in place to stabilize the monument and prevent future problems.

Lewis Township Cemetery dates back to 1883 and sits on a hillside overlooking the Missouri River bottom just southeast of Council Bluffs — a beautiful and well-kept historic resting place.

This project is a good reminder that it doesn’t have to be a full cemetery restoration. We also help families with individual monuments and family stones that need attention.

Well, another one in the books at Fairview Cemetery!
Established in 1876, Fairview Chapel & Cemetery has been a part of Washington Township’s history for nearly 150 years. We just wrapped up restoration work here — repairing, cleaning, and resetting several monuments that had shifted or weathered over time. The transformations speak for themselves, and we’ll be sharing the before-and-after photos so you can see the progress firsthand.

Fairview Cemetery sits just off Highway 6 and Minden Road, on land originally donated by Jay B. Matthews. The very first burial was Jacob Sketchley in 1876, and by 1901 the cemetery expanded from the original lots into the new section as the community grew. The adjoining chapel was built in 1889 by G.W. Briggs and sons, and while it hasn’t had a full-time minister since 1921, it still hosts special services and remains an important local landmark.

Thanks to the Fairview Pioneer Memorial Association, formed in 1956, the chapel and cemetery have remained well cared for and active — and we’re proud to contribute to that ongoing preservation.

Whether it’s a full cemetery restoration like this or just an individual family stone, we handle every project with the same care, respect, and craftsmanship.

Well, that’s a wrap on the first round at Whipple Cemetery!

We just finished up phase one of restoration work here — repairing and resetting several monuments and tablets that have stood the test of time. It’s always rewarding to help bring new life to a place with so much history.

Whipple Cemetery has roots going back to the late 1800s. Edward Dean and I. Whipple — a local tavern keeper along the old Mormon Trail — were both involved in establishing the cemetery. The first lot was sold in 1879, and the earliest known burials date back to the 1880s. Generations of families have been laid to rest here, each stone telling its own story of the people who helped shape this area.

We’re proud to play a part in preserving that history and keeping these monuments standing strong for years to come. There’s still more work to be done in future phases, but it’s already looking great out there.

Whether it’s a full cemetery restoration or just one family stone, we handle every project with the same care and craftsmanship.
