New Orleans Metro Championship 2025 💦

What a weekend! The New Orleans Metro Championship Meet brought together 308 swimmers from 29 schools, and I couldn’t be prouder of my children representing Covington High School. 🦁💛

Gabby qualified in the 200 freestyle and 100 fly, and Jason Jr. competed in the 500 freestyle long distance — both achieving their best personal records yet! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️✨

Unfortunately, on Friday I ended up in the Emergency Room with severe pain and complications involving my left eye. I spent the night in the hospital and missed their races on Saturday definitely not the weekend I planned. But through it all, I’m deeply grateful for my friends, my earthly angels, who stepped in, helped with the kids, and stayed by my side while my husband was away on a business trip. 🙏🏼

God is so faithful, and everything worked out in the end. I’m home, I’m healing, and I will be okay. I may not have all the answers yet, but I trust in God completely — His plan is always perfect. ❤️

🙏🏼 Please, prayer warriors, keep me in your prayers as I continue to heal and seek answers. I know that with faith, love, and God’s grace, I’ll come through this stronger. 💕

Regular physical activity can lower the risk of developing breast cancer by 25–40%, according to research from the American Cancer Society, World Health Organization (WHO), and National Cancer Institute (NCI).
This benefit applies to women of all ages, and is seen in both pre-menopausal and post-menopausal breast cancers.



🧠 2. How Exercise Helps

Exercise helps the body regulate several biological factors linked to breast cancer:
   •   Hormone balance: lowers circulating estrogen and insulin, which in high levels can promote tumor growth.
   •   Body fat reduction: excess fat tissue increases estrogen production and inflammation.
   •   Improved immune function: physical activity enhances the body’s ability to detect and destroy abnormal cells.
   •   Reduced inflammation and oxidative stress: both are linked to cancer development.
   •   Better insulin sensitivity: reduces growth-promoting effects of insulin and IGF-1 on cells.



⏱️ 3. Recommended Amount
   •   At least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week (like brisk walking, swimming, or cycling)
or
   •   75 minutes of vigorous activity per week (like running, dancing, or aerobics)
plus
   •   2 or more strength-training sessions per week (for muscle and bone health).

Even short daily walks or small increases in movement (taking stairs, gardening, housework) add measurable benefit.



🌿 4. For Breast Cancer Survivors

Exercise also helps reduce recurrence risk, improves energy, reduces fatigue from treatment, and enhances mood and overall survival. Survivors who are physically active have better long-term outcomes than those who are sedentary.
