Automotive Technician

Our automotive service center needs a reliable Automotive Technician to join our team. We operate one of the finest and most efficient repair shops in the area, and we require excellence of our devoted staff. Each Automotive Technician must be properly licensed and have the experience necessary to provide our customers with optimum service. We occasionally accept contract work for fleet vehicles, so knowledge of larger trucks and Buses will be helpful in this position but not a requirement. We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.

Automotive Technician responsibilities and duties:

• Perform routine automotive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, transmission flushes, air conditioner re-charges, front-end alignments , battery installations and headlight/taillight installations
• Maintain a working knowledge of current industry best practices in automotive repair
• Conduct extensive diagnostic procedures to determine the sources of customers’ problems and provide accurate repair recommendations
• Inspect vehicles according to the state’s requirements for emissions and safety
• Conduct necessary repairs and take vehicles for test drives to verify soundness
• Maintain legible and accurate paperwork for both the customer and for our records
• Clean and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety
Automotive Technician qualifications and skills
• High school diploma/GED required
• 2+ years’ of service technician experience
• Willingness to participate in in-house training
• Ability to operate all auto repair tools
• Knowledge of diagnostic tools and equipment
o ASE certification Not required but a plus

The Pocono Transportation Inc/ Auto Care Plus Guide to Selecting Tires and Wheels

Some people living NEPA love driving and love their vehicles:
To them, picking out the right tire is just as important – and just as much fun – as finding the right shoes is to a runner.

Now not everyone in NEPA is like that. Many people in PA have found that shopping for tires is overwhelming because there are just so many choices. So let's break it down: there are four main categories of tires, depending on the kind of driving you do.

First, there are summer tires. You would buy summer tires if you're looking for maximum summertime performance. The rubber is a little softer to help you stick to the road in fast corners. The tread has wide blocks at the shoulder to stiffen the tire in turns. The tread design can handle rain but really isn't set up for snow and ice.

Next comes winter tires. You would buy winter tires if you still like performance driving when it's cold and slippery out, so you need a tread design that'll really bite into ice and snow. The rubber compound is formulated to stay pliable when temperatures drop below 45 degrees F/7 degrees C, so you get great traction even on dry roads. On the other end of the winter tire spectrum are tires designed to handle severe ice and snow conditions.

The third category is all-season tires. Now, most new cars come with all-seasons in NEPA . The idea is a tire that you can use all-year round in PA. Naturally, the tread design and rubber compound is a compromise that won't give you the extreme capabilities of summer or winter tires, but if your driving and weather conditions aren't at the extreme ends of the spectrum, all-season tires might suit you just fine.

The last category is all-terrain tires. These tires are designed for both around NEPA and off-road use. If you need a tire that gets good traction in the dirt and is tough enough for rocks and ruts and stuff, but still performs well on the road, an all-terrain tire might be just what you need.

Overview- Pocono Transportation Inc is a family owned and operated Napa Car Care Center and transportation company (Bus Company) with over 50 fleet vehicles and hundreds of auto care customers located in Covington twp., serving the North Pocono Area since 1936. We offer excellent career opportunities for highly motivated professionals, Technician Level (II) are responsible for diagnosing, repairing and performing preventive maintenance on customers and fleet vehicles and must have ASE certification. Technician Level (I)(entry level) are responsible for repairing and performing preventive maintenance on customers and fleet vehicles and assisting other technicians . Also must be willing to commit to furthering their skills by company paid training such as ASE, state inspection and other certifications.
