"...I learned that truly listening to patients matters. Paying attention to every detail they describe matters. Patients are not obstacles to the diagnostic process. Their observations are often among the most valuable clinical clues we have."

with the patient.

It ripples through entire families.

Children wondering why their parent changed.
Spouses watching the person they love disappear behind emotional numbness, fear, exhaustion, or despair.
Parents helplessly trying to understand suffering they cannot fully see.

Some patients are fighting not only symptoms — but the heartbreak of trying to convince the people closest to them that their pain is real.

No human being should have to battle severe suffering while also battling disbelief.

Listening matters.
Compassion matters.
Belief matters. 💛

We filed a lawsuit challenging the administration’s abrupt delay of critical website accessibility features designed to ensure blind people and people with other disabilities can access essential government and healthcare services online.

“For over fifty years, our laws—specifically Section 504 of the Rehabilitation act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act— have promised blind Americans and other Americans with disabilities equal access to all areas of life, including digital spaces and services. Yet today this promise remains unfulfilled, and now our government is compounding the outrage by asking us to wait even longer,” said President Riccobono. “We will not wait. We will fight to ensure that the promise of America’s laws, and indeed its founding documents, finally becomes reality for blind and disabled Americans.”

Housing First Webinar alert:💻 "Housing Without Restrictions: A Key to Avoiding Homelessness and Institutionalization"

🗓️ Thursday, June 11, 2026
⏰ 1 to 2 PM ET
📍 Zoom - Register today: https://brandeis.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_CdyUDSNIQCGwAFjiL-1Zng #/registration

Join us and the Community Living Policy Center for our upcoming webinar, which will highlight the importance of Housing First for unhoused people with disabilities and the role it plays in advancing community living.

Housing First is an evidence-based approach that helps people with disabilities access affordable permanent housing and services individually tailored to a person's needs. Housing is not conditioned on people demonstrating successful participation in services. This enables people to achieve the stability that they need in order to focus on and address their needs holistically, including mental health or substance use issues.

Panelists will provide a history of the evolution of Housing First policy, raise examples of how Housing First works, and explain why it matters now more than ever for disabled people and other populations disproportionately affected by homelessness.

In his 2008 book, Psychiatry: The Science of Lies, psychiatrist Dr. Thomas Szasz quotes Mark Twain, “Truth is mighty and will prevail. There is nothing the matter with this, except that it ain't so.” He also writes that, “...serious persons ought not to take psychiatry seriously, except as a threat to reason, responsibility, and liberty.”

Psychiatry is finally under full attack, and rightly so, for decades of prescribing putative antidepressants that have caused infinitely more harm than good under the deceptive cloak that depression is caused by a, “Chemical imbalance” that cannot be measured by any scientific means. And those so-called therapeutic medications are not the only harmful psychotropics that psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and nurse practitioners have been liberally prescribing under the guise of providing mental health treatment.

The APA along with the money generating Diagnostic and Statistical Manuals that have no scientific foundation, are a huge fraud that should be excised from legitimate medicine. One benefit of the internet is that people have no excuse for being ignorant of the truth, and willful ignorance is really irresponsible in light of having the tools the internet provides to seek factual truth.

It’s not just more and more patients who are coming forward to talk about how the mental health industry impacted them. It's professionals, too.

In a one-of-its-kind panel held at our last conference, psychiatrists Javeed Sukhera, Mark Horowitz, and Joanna Moncrieff (in the video here) shared what they learned once inside the system. Their discussion covered:

• How training suppresses questions of meaning and context in favor of rigid diagnoses
• The systemic pressures—guidelines, liability, and distorted evidence—that drive practice
• How these forces create the very defensiveness and detachment many patients experience
• Potential pathways forward

These insider accounts provide an honest accounting of the obstacles within the industry; as well as powerful validation for those who are actively tapering. It wasn’t you, and the things you’ve reported—they’re being seen, listened to and acted on. 1/
