On Friday, May 15, MCCF Early Learning Director,Lisa Walter, joined fellow Coalition Member Dr. Megan Purcell, Brianne Pack, Director of Rainbows and Rhymes Preschool, and Stacey Murphy, Director of New Hope Christian Preschool, to present at the Indiana Association for the Education of Young Children (INAEYC) Early Childhood Conference.

Their session, Growing Together: Community Power in Action, highlighted collaborative efforts to strengthen and improve the landscape of child care in Montgomery County. The presenters shared experiences, partnerships, and strategies that are helping create a stronger early learning community for children, families, and providers.

The session served as a meaningful opportunity to showcase the power of collaboration and community leadership in advancing high-quality early childhood education. Together, these leaders continue to inspire positive change and build a brighter future for Montgomery County’s youngest learners.

It’s no secret how much we appreciate and value our local early childhood educators! This past Wednesday, we hosted our May Professional Learning Series focused on Teacher Appreciation.

Rachel Giannini led a hands-on workshop where teachers brought the outdoors in through activities like rock stacking, nature art, and building with sticks and pipe cleaners.

Educators enjoyed a delicious meal from The Juniper Spoon, including a fun worms in dirt treat, and had the chance to create their own goodie bags with books, stationery, a gift card to Arni's Crawfordsville, and snacks.

Thank you to our amazing teachers for all that you do. We hope you have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you at the Early Learning Expo this fall.

Join us on May 6th for an engaging, hands-on nature workshop designed for early childhood educators, facilitated by one of our most favorite ECE friends--Mrs. Rachel Giannini!

Participants will explore a variety of interactive learning centers using natural materials, discovering practical ways to incorporate nature-based play and exploration into everyday classroom experiences. This workshop emphasizes creativity, sensory learning, and developmentally appropriate strategies to inspire young learners through the natural world.

I can't wait to see you all at the next workshop and bonus--we will also be celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! 🥳

This morning, Governor Mike Braun announced a $200 million investment in child care and the reopening of the CCDF voucher program. This is an important step forward for Indiana families and child care providers.

As we celebrate this progress, we must continue to advocate for high-quality early learning opportunities and ensure all young children have access to the care and education they need to thrive.

We had SO much fun this past Saturday hosting Family Fun Day!

This was the perfect way to kick off Week of the Young Child, which is celebrated nationwide April 11-17. WOYC highlights the importance of early childhood education through play, music, art, and community.

Thank you to all of the vendors, volunteers, and local businesses and organizations for their help in making this a great event for Montgomery County families!
