It is a MYTH that you must stay on your back during labor with an epidural. However, you must be in the bed. Movement is our friend in labor. Even with an epidural. Which is why it’s important to have someone assist you every 20-45 minutes in switching positions.

Thank you to all of the nurses for what you guys do to take care of patients ❤️

Big thank you to the L&D and NICU nurses for taking care of mom and babies. Another big thank you to the nurses who’ve taken care of my clients and jammed out with us while in labor and bringing a positive vibe to the room 🥰🌸

Today is National Nurses Day.

To the labor and delivery nurses,
the postpartum nurses,
the NICU nurses,
the pediatric nurses,
the school nurses,
the ER nurses,
the ICU nurses,
the oncology nurses,
the hospice nurses,
the psych nurses,
the home health nurses,
the OR nurses,
the dialysis nurses,
the cardiac nurses,
the rehab nurses,
and every other nurse showing up day after day,

thank you.

Thank you for the nights you don’t sleep.
The meals you miss.
The emotional weight you carry home after hard shifts.

Thank you for comforting scared patients,
supporting families,
saving lives,
holding hands through heartbreak,
and still finding compassion even when you’re exhausted.

People will never fully understand how much nurses carry behind those scrubs.

But today,
we honor all of you.

☔️Welcome Baby Alexander 💙

Alexander’s arrival was a little over due. Early labor had gone on for almost 3 days. On April 22, momma was describing her contractions as “period cramps”. During our text exchange, she stated she felt anxious that she wasn’t going to make it to the hospital. Nobody was in a bit of a rush.
I got a call from dad saying they were running errands and then heading to hospital.
About 2 hours goes by and I get a call saying her cervix is thinned out and bag is bulging. I drove like the fast and furious. Baby Alexander was so excited to make his arrival. He came out in 3 pushes with momma standing up. As soon as I walked in the door, baby had just came out. 😭
I love when clients take my advice with breathing exercises and getting their body ready and prepared during pregnancy. But this worked too well 😂

Baby Alexander was welcomed by his dad, grandma, and big sister. Thank you to the wonderful midwife and nurses who were so supportive an encouraging during her stay❤️

(P.s. I’ve never seen a primip deliver so fast😂 I’m so happy that she got the birth she wanted)

❓Things to ask your provider to see if it’s a good fit for your desires of an unmedicated birth

-Are you comfortable delivering my baby in different positions? (Other than lothotomy)
-How many patients do you have that deliver unmedicated?
-Will you allow my body to labor naturally first before trying medical interventions?

Honestly, ask whatever question comes to your mind to make an informed decision on where you deliver and who you choose to support you during your labor and delivery. It is so important to be transparent with your provider on your desires to build communication and trust. It is a red flag if a provider does not want to take the time to answer your questions, dismisses concerns, and rushes your time with them.

🐣Welcome baby Hayden🐣

His mom came to me the beginning of her pregnancy with a mission for a successful VBA2C. This means vaginal birth after 2 c sections. Since her kids are close in age, we discussed the potential risks and were grateful to find her an amazing provider who is knowledgeable and very supportive of this. Mom experienced prodromal labor for almost a week. Got a membrane sweep at 40 weeks gestation and went into labor the very next day.
After some words of encouragement, she had a successful VBA2C. No uterine rupture.
Thank you to my backup doula for assisting and being an amazing doula to her as well. Thank you to the hospital staff and provider for being so encouraging and kind. 🥰
