Did you know that during the COVID‑19 pandemic, nearly 33% of Asian and Asian American adults reported psychological distress, yet over 40% said they needed help but couldn’t access it? 💔 This unmet need highlights how fear of stigma and lack of accessible services contribute to widespread mental health struggles in our communities. These numbers reveal how many are hurting, and how many are not getting the support they need. 💬 Let’s raise awareness and build pathways to healing.

Did you know that within South Asian diasporic history, q***r arts, voices, and spaces existed long before mainstream Western representation? ✨ Festivals like Desh Pardesh in Toronto blended South Asian heritage with q***r pride, creating spaces where sexual and gender diversity were celebrated through art, performance, and discussion. These cultural moments highlight resilience against deep heteronormative and collectivist norms in the diaspora. 🎭🌈

Ever wonder how movement shapes your mind? We talk a lot about heart health. But real talk, cardio is just as powerful for your mental well-being. Every walk, every run, every dance session… it’s a step toward less anxiety, brighter moods, and a stronger sense of self.

Thirty to forty minutes of cardio, three to five times a week, small choices, big impact. Heart and mind, working together.

You don’t have to do it alone. Let’s move forward, side by side. Prioritize your self-care.

Our final Ramadan, Together gathering is here. 🌙

Over the past few weeks, this space has held incredibly honest conversations people showing up with vulnerability, curiosity, grief, hope, and care for one another. Strangers became community through the simple act of sharing what Ramadan actually feels like.

For our final week, we’re reflecting on what it means to carry Ramadan forward beyond the expectations, beyond perfection, and into everyday life.

If you’ve been thinking about joining but haven’t yet, this is your moment. You are welcome even if it’s your first time, even if you’ve missed previous weeks.

Come as you are: questioning, devoted, uncertain, tired, hopeful. There is space for all of it.

What does belonging look like for q***r South Asians?

Week 2 of Ramadan, Together was incredibly moving. We held a full room of people who showed up with honesty, tenderness, and courage. Participants spoke openly about loneliness, family expectations, grief, spiritual pressure, and what it means to belong during Ramadan. The conversation was thoughtful, vulnerable, and deeply affirming, the kind of dialogue that reminds us how powerful community can be when we make space for complexity.

We can’t wait for WEEK 3 - MARCH 9 AT 7:30PM PST.
This coming week, we’re continuing the conversation with a focus on body, mental health, and care during Ramadan, especially for those navigating illness, medication, eating challenges, exhaustion, or spiritual pressure around fasting.

Because of Daylight Savings Time, our group now meets at 7:30 PM PST (post-iftar).
If you’ve been thinking about joining, you are absolutely welcome to come, even if you missed the first sessions. Each week stands on its own.

Come as you are. Truly.

Growing up South Asian often means growing up between two worlds.
- Balancing family expectations.
- Navigating identity.
- Carrying pressure quietly.
Research shows that su***de is the leading cause of death for Asian Americans ages 15–24 and South Asian students are often less likely to seek support because of stigma, family pressure, and shame.

That’s why we’re partnering with Crossroads’ Desi Affinity Space to create intentional conversations with South Asian high school students. JiVA is bringing Nupur Gupta and Neesh Riaz to discuss the challenges of duality in high school and how to navigate the two worlds!
