🩸Our sick little baby is visiting the wonderful Westside Animal Hospital today to recheck bloodwork and get an exam to try and help determine if she is stable enough to wait for her evaluation appointment at the specialty vet on Dec 2nd.

📉She continues to have mornings where she seems a little puppy like, but then progressively dulls throughout the day. Her foster says in the evenings she is like a tired little puddle. She has been having some incoordination as well.

💞So much love to Adventures of Columbo and his Beeps for helping us with fundraising for her lifesaving procedure!

🐶 Since we don’t have much else to report on, here is a photo of her with her foster brother. She really is a little peanut.

It takes a village to save dogs.

We’re incredibly lucky for not only the medical expertise, and professionalism Westside Animal Hospital, our main Veterinary Office, provides. The entire staff is passionate, kind, and caring.

A situation arouse where, instead of performing a requested behavioral euthanasia on an exuberant young dog, they took custody of her.

Their amazing trainer is working with her, and we are trying to help her (and them) find her forever spot in this world.

Unfortunately we are very low on open fosters at the moment. If you are interested in helping, even if Beanie isn’t the dog for you, please apply to foster/adopt to help be the change.

💔Brynn was found in NM with a broken off rope/cable around her neck, she was infested with ticks was in terrible shape, and so so afraid.

🦷Then, once she safely arrived in Maine her amazing foster quickly noticed something was amiss with her teeth!

🏥We got her into our beloved Westside Animal Hospital as soon as possible for a dental procedure, where they removed TEN painful, broken teeth. They also found clear evidence of past trauma on both of her front paws, and a longterm deep skin infection.

💓Despite all of this, she is still the sweetest girl, with soulful, hopeful eyes!

🧚‍♀️Unfortunately for us, the tooth fairy apparently doesn’t accept dog teeth, so any donations towards her care yesterday would be helpful!

🦛WINNIE WEDNESDAY 🦛

🏴‍☠️On this episode of WWWW (What’s Wrong With Winnie) we have: Ulcer on her eye & possible entropion. Our girl is looking like she needs a pirate eyepatch y’all

👁 In all seriousness, she has woken up a few times this past month with an irritated eye, but it would chill out within hours of her foster noticing it. On Monday it was doing it again, but didn’t get better. Our incredible Westside Animal Hospital checked her out and discovered the ulcer and prescribed some eye ointment….and her booboo balloon again so she can’t paw at it at make it worse.

🐣 It’s unclear at this point if as she is growing, her eyelids are turning inward and causing damage to her eye, causing the ulcer…or if the ulcer came first and she irritated her eye pawing at it. Classic chicken or the egg, amirite? If it is entropion, our girl is going to need yet ANOTHER surgery to ensure her longterm comfort…

🦿Either way, she’s still a happy, silly little girl, who is getting around slightly better! Physical Therapy for her legs starts next Friday!

❤️‍🩹Our sweet little house hippo is out of surgery and resting comfortably. She an entire slip lead, some fleece/fabric pieces, and some unidentifiable items removed from her stomach. She was also spayed and had a hernia repaired in the process.

🏥 Shoutout to the Westside Animal Hospital team for taking such great care of our girl! We’ll have her bloodwork re-checked soon to follow up on her anemia as well!

😞It was confirmed today that our sweet Winnie has to have ANOTHER surgery…

💉A few weeks ago she had some routine bloodwork for her pain medication done, and we learned she was anemic. We continued to monitor this with our trusted Veterinarians Westside Animal Hospital. The anemia kept slowly getting worse. X-rays were recommended, and we discovered Winnie had eaten something metal. Further x-rays later revealed it is NOT moving from her stomach. We’re concerned whatever metal is in there is not only causing irritation, but breaking down in her system.

🗓 She has been on very strict crate/pen rest since before her orthopedic surgery. We’re assuming this has been in there for a LONG time, especially since her previous owner neglected her legs for months, and then wanted to euthanize her at 6 months old.

😖We’re drowning in vet bills still, but Winnie has come so far….She JUST got out of her bandages. Surgery is confirmed for tomorrow morning.

🦛Winnie Update 🦛

🤞🏻Little Winnie is doing ok! She has an appointment next week with her surgeon at Maine Veterinary Medical Center to see she can downgrade from a splinted bandage, to just a soft bandage.

😕 Unfortunately, her most recent routine bloodwork showed some strange abnormalities. Her wonderful doctors at Westside Animal Hospital are going to run some more tests to try and find out what is going on

☀️Luckily, our sweet ray of sunshine is acting normally! Her foster says she is still very happy, a little naughty, and very silly!

Over 2 hours later, Dumplin’s dental is done 🥺
This poor, sweet dog is the definition of this breed.

After looking in her mouth, it’s pretty suspect something malicious happened to her.

Whether someone filed her teeth down, she was locked in a crate and chewing on bars, or both, or worse. The amount of pain she had to have been in was insane.

Not to mention her eyes, for which she had surgery two weeks ago...
And for her to STILL be such a sweet love, is insane.

Because of the roots exposed and the rotten teeth/roots she had 22 teeth removed today.

Huge shout out to Westside Animal Hospital, and our beloved Dr. Savage, Stryker, and team, who took such good care of her.

400+To spay a 6mth.old kitten , absolutely ridiculous , since the new vet took over, prices have gone through the roof, so hasn't bedside manners, nothing like driving customers away and a business into the ground with prices,.

Winnie arrived in Maine on Saturday, and we immediately got her in to see our trusted veterinarians at Westside Animal Hospital.

😭There we learned that her medical issues may extend further than just her front limbs.

They ran some bloodwork, and put her on some pain medications to help with her comfort, but it was decided that we should focus most of her care at the specialty hospital.

Luckily, we preemptively made her the first available appointment, even before her arrival in Maine.

We are anticipating sedated x-rays, potentially a CT/MRI, at MINIMUM.

She obviously is in need of extensive and immediate care.

This little girl has already dealt with this pain for too long, we don’t want to have to put off any treatment she needs due to finances.

We just wanted to send a friendly reminder, that all dogs will need to be on a leash when attending appointments. The leash should be on when exiting the car, walking across the parking lot, entering the building until you enter the room. When in the room you may remove your leash. Cats should attend all appointments inside of a secure crate or on a fitted walking harness. Please keep your cat harnessed or crated up until you are in the closed exam room. Thank you all so much.
