Vitamin D Has a Partner — And Most People Don’t Know About It.
Millions of people are told to take Vitamin D — and for good reason. Most of us are either deficient or running at suboptimal levels.
As a prescribing clinician, what I wish more patients knew is… vitamin D needs a partner!
That partner is Vitamin K2. Vitamin D alone may not be doing the full job it’s meant to do.
Here’s the science:
Vitamin D’s role is to increase calcium absorption.
But calcium needs a traffic director 🚦~ and research suggests that’s where K2 comes in.
Without enough K2:
❌ calcium may not be properly directed to your bones.
❌research suggests it CAN deposit in arteries and soft tissue
With K2:
✅osteocalcin protein pulls calcium INTO your bones
✅MGP proteins actively work to keep calcium OUT of your arteries
✅your vitamin D has the support it needs to work properly
🛑Check your Vitamin D supplement… do you see K2 (specifically MK-7)?
📲 call your medical provider to discuss if it is safe for you to add to your regimen.
⚠️ 🛑. Important: Don’t add K2 without talking to your doctor first ⚠️🛑.
Vitamin K2 is not appropriate for everyone and maybe contraindicated with certain conditions or medications ~ talk with your provider before starting!
