Her quick thinking brought Ava to Children's Health, where she was diagnosed with a rare genetic condition causing seizures at just 11 months old. Thanks to expert care from our team, Ava’s seizures stopped just days after starting a keto diet.

Looking back, Alexis is glad she listened to her gut in the face of so much anxiety, self-doubt and several experts telling her Ava was fine. And she was grateful to find a team of experts who could provide a fast diagnosis and hold her hand as she learned the ins and outs of managing a ketogenic diet.

Patients and families experienced a science demonstration broadcast live to their room from our Seacrest Studios, then got to participate in STEM activities in the Child Life Zone. We're celebrating the 10th anniversary of our facility program! 🐾 These special furry team members bring comfort to our patients by reducing anxiety, lowering blood pressure and making the hospital feel a little more like home. Thank you to our past, present and future dogs who help our patients, families and team members each day.

Fun fact: Did you know our therapy dogs are named by themed litters? We've got the Paw Patrol (Rex), Dunkin' Donuts (Caramel) and Horse (Canter) litters, just to name a few. This fun naming tradition helps ensure names aren’t duplicated and helps us tell which pups are siblings! 🐶🎈
