Low sugar green smoothie for breakfast this morning. Diets high in refined sugar cause inflammation in the body so if you suffer from chronic inflammation then you can benefit from a sugar detox.

Recipe:
1 handful spring mix
1/4 cup zucchini frozen
2-3 large strawberries
1/4 cup blueberries frozen
1 tsp wheatgrass powder
1 cup unsweetened dairy free milk

This is the photo that fueled my desire for change. 2013 is the year I decided to take control of my health.

I had been on prednisone for a prolonged period of time and I had recently quit smoking ci******es. My eating habits were terrible and working out was the furthest thing from my mind. I was addicted to sugar; a newport short and a coke a cola was what I considered breakfast most days🤦🏽‍♀️

😩I was always tired and had no energy
😩I was pre diabetic
😩I was taking blood pressure meds
😩I suffered from frequent sarc flare ups
😩I was always out of breath
😩I had frequent rashes & other skin issues
😩I suffered from frequent headaches
😩I suffered from frequent sinus infections/issues
😩I suffered from frequent unexplained aches/pains
😩I was always at the doctor for something

My health was a mess! I was a mess!

Changing my diet and lifestyle was not easy! I didn't know where to begin. I did tons of research, read tons of books, and took classes to obtain the knowledge that I needed to help myself. ***Honey Lime Black Bean & Quinoa Mason Jar Salad***

This salad is budget friendly (makes 4 servings), easy to make, and it is deeeeelicious! This recipe can easily be prepped and ready to go when you need it. This salad is a great option for lunch or dinner.

This recipe can also be easily modified to fit your taste preference.

For example, you may want to substitute or add ingredients:

1. limes for lemon
2. honey for maple syrup
3. black beans for kidney beans or any bean that you prefer
4. add red or sweet onion or scallions if that's your preference.

I usually add maple syrup to mine instead of honey because I like the hint of maple flavor and I add onion because I'm an onion lover, it makes everything taste good to me😅

Good morning healthy people!

Good nutrition is the key to good spiritual, mental, and physical health. They are all connected so if one aspect of health is out of sync it affects the others.

I know it can be tough to trade habits that aren't serving your highest good for habits that better serve you in all aspects of health but if you begin by making small changes it will get easier.

You can begin today by choosing to do any one of the following:

1. Drink one more glass of water than your norm.
2. Drink one less soda or coffee than your norm.
3. Eat one more serving of green veggies than your norm.
4. Eat one more serving of fruit than your norm.
5. Eat one less meal from a box or package today.
6. Eat one less fast-food meal today.
7. Use less salt or sugar.
8. Take a 10-15 min walk to get some fresh air today.
9. No stinking thinking today! Be more positive! You can choose another thought.

Set a goal and CRUSH IT today!

Revisit this post at the end of the day to share how you crushed your goal for the day.

•Feeling exhausted all of the time
•difficult periods
•bloating
•tender breasts
•resistant weight
•weight gain-especially belly
•thinning hair, hair loss, or excess hair
•mood swings
•problems with blood sugar
•trouble concentrating
•infertility
•trouble sleeping
•hot flashes and/or night sweats
•difficulty conceiving
•miscarriages
•fibroids or cysts
•low s*x drive
•Endometriosis
•Estrogen dominance
•PCOS
•Autoimmune disorder

These symptoms can be an indication of hormonal imbalance.

I've experienced at least 10 of the symptoms myself in the past and I found that how I was eating had a great deal to do with the symptoms that I was experiencing.

Bloating, weight gain, difficult periods, pre-diabetes, difficulty conceiving, and autoimmune (sarcoidosis) were my biggest pain points.

Difficulty conceiving is why I'm a mom to a 3 and 9 year old at 42.

The foods we eat affect both our hormone & gut health and cause issues that we most times don't even realize.

Honestly most of us have become out of tune with our bodies and don't pay attention to the warnings (symptoms) that our bodies are constantly giving. I know because THIS WAS ME!

I had to learn through trial and error along with tons of research how to eat to improve my health. I began to pay attention to how certain foods made me feel. There were certain foods that I ate that made my periods worse and heavier, caused bloating, made me feel extremely tired even after a good nights rest, and caused extreme inflammation in my body.
