As a Native Of DFW, a veteran of the hospitality industry, and a lover of food, I've always kept my taste buds on the restaurant scene around Dallas. From amazing restaurants that have stood the test of time, to hole in the wall places, that have amazing cuisine, and new places popping up everywhere that influencers are raving about. With Clay's Carriage, I'm all over the metroplex enjoying cuisine in many fine establishments, and some small places that do food really well. I'm happy to Share my knowledge with you.
Periodically I'm going to list a few, from different types of food, and price points. From all over the metroplex, mostly from the Eastern side of the Metroplex. Hopefully you will enjoy them as much as I have. These future posts will be titled "Clay's Choices"
Clay's Choices # 1
Comfort Food
Celebration, Lovers Lane, Dallas
This Dallas culinary institution has been around forever or so it seems. Atleast long enough to perfect their menu. From Chicken fried steak to Chicken Caroline, or Red Snapper, you can't miss. Fantastic sides and desserts as well. If you love coconut cream pie, this is your spot!
Po' Melvins, Beltline rd, Irving
Originally located in a repurposed Dairy Queen, this Irving tradition has since moved to a larger and much more comfy digs. Their Lousiana roots give the food a little cajun flare, Serving the best Po' Boys in the metroplex, the Roast beef will have you wearing gravy to your elbows. Delicious Chicken fried steak and chicken, and fried seafood, and savory gumbo, so good on these frigid days we've been subjected to lately. Great greens, yams, red beans and rice and award winning black eyed peas paired with Jalepeno cornbread. Don't leave without sharing some cobbler with that special someone. I stop here regularly when I'm around DFW airport. This is a restaurant that's been passed down from one generation, Melvin Lemane, to his kids, Mel and Michele, and they do their old man proud. Your taste buds and stomach will thank me.
