I have sooooo many stories as a travel nurse. I’ve worked at some hospitals and 💭 wondered how a few of the staff managed to narrowly miss a sentinel event… like a patient jumping out a window 🪟.

A place to think

You don’t actually need to work overtime to achieve your goals. There is a better way, a smarter way to maintain your work-life balance and have everything you want in abundance.
A lot of people in nursing will tell you that you need to work overtime in order to reach your goals.
SPOILER ALERT: You actually don’t.
Trust me, in the list of things you need to accomplish your goals, working overtime is at the bottom.
Let me tell you why:
Maintaining your work-life balance will prevent you from burning out so you can do what you love for longer.
How do you relax?
My favorite way to relax after a long day.

Relax: It will be okay
What’s your go-to when you’ve had a looooong day?
We all have a favorite.
Maybe it’s singing at the top of your lungs on the drive home from work. 🎶
Or spending some quiet time just destressing from the overwhelm of your day. 🤫
Or enjoying a glass of wine. 🍷
Or watching a favorite TV show. 🎬
Or stopping everything and dancing it out. 💃🕺
For me, it’s creating content. It just helps me feel better when it’s been ‘one of those’ days.

Has someone ever asked you if you’re a ‘glass half full or half empty’ type of person? That question makes me short circuit. And this is why…
Too negative is no good, but toxic positivity is also, well, toxic. There’s ‘fake it ’til you make it,’ but also being honest and true to yourself. And there’s, frankly, just sometimes a different answer based on my mood. So, do I say the glass is half full? Do I pretend it’s half full? Do I answer honestly if I view it as half empty? Do I have to just have ONE answer? 🥴
So here’s my hot take: STOP QUESTIONING IT.
I’m just going to accept that there isn’t ONE perfect answer across the board.
Most days I’m a glass half full kind of person. Life’s too short with unlimited possibilities.
And that’s what works for me.
So, with the first and realest answer that pops in your mind: Is the glass half full or half empty? Why?
I’m sure you’ve heard the question “Is the glass half empty or half full?”
Maybe you even have a canned response:
It’s both, obviously!
It’s always full, even if half of it is full of air!
The glass is twice as big as it needs to be!
Basically, it’s just an oversimplification. Your answer can (and will) change every day. It doesn’t mean you’re an optimist or a pessimist. It just means you are a human who has good days and bad days. Nothing is absolute; nothing is static. If the glass is only half-full, maybe it’s just in the process of being filled-up, or maybe you were really thirsty and already downed the first half. 🤷
Or maybe you’re not a pessimist after all... Maybe you just need a glass of water. 😂
Tell me how you’re feeling today and/or how you’re trying to reframe your mindset in the comments. 👇
Hey, can we take a minute to focus on YOU?
May is officially here, so it seems like a good time to check in on how your year is going so far. (Oh, and let’s celebrate that we can finally stop running into that “It’s gonna be May” JT meme. 🙄 )
Does it freak you out a little that 1/3 of the year is already gone? Because HOW DID THAT HAPPEN ALREADY?
If you’re like me, every day is different. Some days are filled with busy work (sending emails, taking calls, loading your to do list with new tasks…). Others are more relaxed, where you’re able to really think ahead and dream and plan.
Some days I feel like a CEO. Some days I feel like a note taker. (And some days all I want to do is binge a good show and curl up on the couch and pretend responsibility doesn’t exist 🙋😂)
Wherever you are in your 2021 journey, you should be proud of yourself. Remember that success and progress don’t always look the way we initially planned.
So, whether you’re feeling like a boss or not, stop for a second, and think of something you’ve accomplished so far this year. Acknowledge the good, and don’t dwell on the could/should/would-haves.
Whatever you are, just be the best that.

Stronger nurse was founder in the principles of strength in five key areas- mental, physical, emotional, financial and relationships. I must have integrity with myself before others believe in my vision. Everyday choose one principle to uphold. If you’re feeling stronger, choose multiple principles to uphold for the day.
How setting goals will make you stronger
A goal is something you plan to achieve that is specific, measurable, agreeable, realistic, and timed.
If you do what is easy your life will be hard; if you do what is hard your life will be easy. ~ Les Brown
Building a business into a brand
During the pandemic, I was struck with the entrepreneurial spirit. I have been making mistakes and learning from them to develop a brand for nurses. All I know how to do is be a nurse. Everything else I am learning has come from trial and error.
Be A Stronger Nurse
Nursing is a profession that is mentally, physically, and spiritually demanding. Nurses suffer from burnout, desensitization, and debilitating injury. Nurses are exceptionally strong individuals. Over time the nurse's body, mind and spirit becomes weakened and weary. What will happen when no one wants to be a nurse anymore? Who will take care of the dying, sick and weak? Who will empathize with compassion and non-judgment?
This page will guide you to be a stronger nurse! YOU MATTER!!! You get ONE body, ONE mind, ONE spirit! Choose to be mentally, physically, and spiritually stronger. Don't become a patient because you neglected to care for the most important person- YOU!
