I am sitting here tapping away at the computer and just realized that this is my 31st year interacting with hashtag and hashtag in my daily education endeavors. Yes, that makes me "old" (or I started teaching when I was 15...not) :).
In any case, I want to wish all of you an amazing GIS Day and Geography Awareness Week by sharing a project I have been working on, and that I know is providing some amazing geospatial mapping resources for the K12 classroom. With the support of Sarah Bednarz and Marcie Goodale, since 2019, I have been creating mapping activities that align with Cengage Group/ National Geographic Learning textbooks using the Esri . I am incredibly proud of the resources that I have designed with the help of several other amazing educators. Thanks so much to Barbaree, Georgeanne, and Roger for your continued help and expertise.
As of today, we have designed collections for 11 textbooks, of which five new collections will be released in January. The amazing new is in play for many of the collections, and I am going back and converting most collections to leverage the amazing opportunities that MapMaker provides.
So, folks, the resource link is below. They are free to use and align beautifully with the Cengage/NGL textbooks. Dig in all, and as always, feel free to contact me with any questions or tweaks.
Hint hint...it looks like a few more collections may kick off in 2026/2027!
