This is what our pharmacy intern had to say about her time at Dougherty’s! We surely will miss Hannah! She brought laughter and smiles to our faces every day! We wish you the best in everything you do!
I finished my first IPPE rotation in Dallas, Texas at Dougherty’s Pharmacy. To say my experience was amazing would be an understatement. I loved the environment, patient interactions, and math I had to do while I was here.
Week 1 I learned how to use the cardinal ordering system and their computer software. I also learned how to use a filling machine that does the work for you.
Week 2 I learned about non-sterile compounding, the different PPE worn in a non-sterile environment, as well as the medications made along with the calculations with drug purity and whatnot.
Week 3 I learned about sterile compounding. I learned about the garbing up process and how to make trimix as well as autologous blood serum eyedrops.
Finally, my last week, I was able to go back into the non-sterile compounding lab and made some lifelong friends and colleagues. I reflected on the time being here and was able to solidify my prior knowledge from compounding lab as well as calculations. Although this was my first rotation, it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a pharmacy.
Thank you guys!
