Meet Mercedes Brown LPC email info@urbancounselingclique.com to book

I'm Mercedes Brown M.S., LPC. I am passionate about helping people win life's toughest battles to achieve a better quality of life. My passion is working with teens and young adults, but I can help all ages meet their counseling goals. With years of working with adolescents, teens, and adults in school and counseling settings, I've learned the importance of self-care, self-love, and self-perseverance. As your therapist, I will be compassionate and motivating, yet firm and transparent. Also, as I strive to create the best treatment plan to meet your needs, I will draw from various theoretical approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, solution focused therapy, person-centered counseling, dialectical behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Ultimately, I would like to offer my clients an authentic and relatable perspective that will encourage change and instill within them the confidence needed to move forward in their lives.

Now accepting clients… Meet Chiedozie Okafor a graduate student in Midwestern State University’s Clinical Mental Health Program. Chiedozie is native of Texas and the son of Nigerian immigrants. Chiedozie’s academic background began immersed in Montessori programs before receiving his undergraduate degree in Biology from Texas A&M University in College Station. Chiedozie also attended the University of Michigan, where he earned a master’s degree in Higher Education and an MBA from UM’s Ross School of Business. Chiedozie is under the intentional supervision of Dr. April Givens here at Urban Counseling Clique.

Professionally, Chiedozie is a purposeful leader with 10+ years of consulting, strategy, & product experience across various industries. His strong strategic ability and EQ has helped him to build rapport, trust, and influence when collaborating with new clients across many levels of an organization. Chiedozie is an empathetic straight shooter, who believes in people potential, people development, and putting his clients first.

Chiedozie is also a certified life coach with experience supporting clients who are having challenges navigating aspects of their personal, professional, or romantic life. His podcast, “I Think I Love My Wife” explores the inner workings, struggles, challenges, and beauty of being in a relationship and getting married, while providing a platform where people can learn from stories that highlight the mental burdens that stem from societal pressures, generational curses, gender related norms, and personal expectations.

Chiedozie’s primary goal is to create a safe space to help clients turn mindfulness into action to get closer to their dreams and the life they want. He has a deep affinity for working with and supporting people from all backgrounds, as well as a history of advocating for young professionals, people of color, and people seeking healthy relationships. Family is core to Chiedozie’s foundation and, when he is not spending time with friends and loved ones, he can be found cycling, playing golf, traveling, watching sports, trying new restaurants, serving through his non-profit (From A Tither), or jogging with his Aussiedoodle, Yaji.
