She thought she couldn’t. She thought the pain was too heavy and she wasn’t able to have another homebirth with her favorite midwife. She thought about folding and just going in to the hospital for pain management. But something happened. Her midwife recommended getting out of the house, getting some fresh air and some sun. She refused at first but then she trusted and believed that it couldn’t hurt no more than it already was. She got to the grass and took off her shoes. The earth felt so good. She kneeled before God and couldn’t leave. She met herself, her true self and baby said “Yes this is where I want to be born”. The women gathered around her. Happy International Day of the Midwife
I truly enjoyed my girls this past weekend. These two Momas had their babies a month apart and lived in the same area. So naturally I had to introduce them to each other and their babies live in the bliss of having a playmate that came into the world with them.

I needed this joyful moment after sitting with a mom going through a fetal demise. I reminded them all that midwife means “with woman” and I truly believe and represent that in all of my care.

Oh and I had to take a picture of the birthday cake. This mom is a bakery beast! Thank you for all the sweet treats!!

I love this video!!! It gives such a clear visual description of the purpose and job of the placenta. When your midwife suggests a diet rich in nutrients and super hydration this is what we mean!
