Can’t believe we have this many thank you’s to send out. Every one of these cards is someone who’s contribution, whether big or small, left a massive impact in our lives. Every one of these cards reminds us that we are not alone, even as isolating it can feel at times to be fighting for even just normalcy. Even still, the words in each card can’t even describe the gratitude we truly feel.

Update on Camille:
We’re still working through some health-related things here. As many people with chronic illnesses would tell you, healing isn’t a linear journey. There are ups and downs, audibles, close-calls, happy accidents and disappointments in terms of rehabilitation. Continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out with either of us. Thank you!

*BBS UPDATE*

Camille is back home (seen doing some Vagus Nerve Stimulation with our Sunny close by 😎)! She finished up her last day about a week ago. Although her days at Spero have come to an end, we’re still taking steps every day towards her health and recovery. We now have all the tools, knowledge, info, and connections to be able to continue her treatment at home. Camille used to continually be at a 8-9/10 pain level daily, and now she’s so so so much lower. We are so incredibly grateful for the Spero Clinic and all they have done to rehabilitate Camille from where she once was. There isn’t a place in the world like that place.

We’re getting close to remission for Camille, and have a solid strategy for this next year. Overall her pain levels have been floating around a 4, which all things considered is pretty amazing. Some days they’re lower, some days higher. For at home therapy, we’ve been renting an ARP WAVE with the intent on purchasing by the end of the year. Along with the ARP, we also have some other tools we’ve been made aware of from Spero that will be instrumental in her rehabilitation. We’re also creating a schedule and rhythm at home that will continue to further her health journey. Additionally, we’ve been aware for a while now that a big piece to that health journey puzzle has been the structure of her jaw. We’ll be working with a special dentist in OKC this year that will address this issue and work towards correcting it.

Thank you everyone for supporting our journey thus far, now onward towards the next season ☀️

*Bring Back Sunshine UPDATE*

Hey y’all! We took a little break from posting here over the holiday season. Needed to put our priorities in therapies and getting better! Here’s where we’re at:

Camille’s way of life is starting to return. After the daily grind of NMR (Neuromuscular re-education) and other therapies, Camille is starting to gain regular function again. She’s now reaching 70+ on the ARP WAVE, which means her body is recovering faster and faster. We’ve been able to go to movies, see people, cook together, play card games (currently on that Uno Flip hype train), and even attend Kyle’s company Christmas party. The day-to-day activities that used to be extremely taxing on Camille’s body are now more doable. Her neck and back are so much stronger now, leading to greater overall posture and mobility. This has facilitated better communication throughout her nervous system, which in-turn means lower levels of pain. Her CRPS has stopped spreading to her extremities and is now primarily in her jaw and neck. When we came to Spero, she had CRPS from head to toe. We are blown away at what Spero continues to do. On top of that, we’re learning practices and rhythms that we can do ourselves that will continue to propel Camille’s health journey forward.

Thank you everyone who has supported us so far. Your support has quite literally saved Camille’s life. Our hope is to get Camille home by mid-February and continue to hone in on at-home therapies, but here’s where we have to aim first:

-Camille’s neck and facial pain has to get down further

-Camille has to get her facial muscles moving properly and balanced. Right now, her left facial muscles function better than her right, and she has some drooping on her right side.

-We have to ensure her body isn’t stuck in a fight-or-flight stress response anymore.

We’ll be posting a fundraising update soon for our goal over the next few months, so stay tuned. If you’re interested in partnering with us to support these last few milestones in Camille’s treatment, please DM this account or . Camille is getting her healing!

Hey y’all! We’re continuing to see progress, slowly but surely. NMR continues to help and piezotherapy continues to break down scar tissue. Camille finally got to max power on the ARP WAVE, a 100/100! That’s a big deal, seeing as she was only able to get to about a 10/100 when she first started. See the full video below 🙂

Over the next few weeks, Camille is going to get piezo on her face again, which will continue to help with the inflamed muscles present in her jaw, head, and neck. A lot of the scar tissue has broken up over her body and she finally feels confident in starting piezo therapy there!

The last couple of weeks have been different than normal. Camille missed a few days throughout the week for dentist visits in Oklahoma, so therapies weren’t every day. Then this last week, someone tested positive for Covid at the clinic, so Camille wasn’t able to get therapies Monday through Wednesday. She’s now going 9 days without treatment, which has been hard on her. Even though we quarantined, we still managed to do some at-home care to help manage pain levels. Spero has consistently lowered her CRPS pain levels, but because of the necessary break in treatment to quarantine, pain levels and inflammation are creeping up in Camille’s facial muscles, proving to us more and more that Spero is right where we need to be.

Even though the last few weeks have felt stagnate, we’re still seeing progress. It’s a slow and long process, but that’s necessary to remedy Cam back to health. We’re looking forward to therapies starting Monday. Leading up to Christmas, we’re going to push more and more and land back into a more consistent rhythm of therapy.

We’re bringing back sunshine over here, whatever it takes.

A little late, but here’s another update!

In the last two weeks, we’ve seen more and more improvement with Camille’s mobility and overall progress. NMR and the Arp WAVE has continued to get her further than we’ve seen in a while. Because it’s incremental, sometimes we don’t even realize how much improvement she’s made. Camille saw one of her Tulsa physical therapists last week for an appointment. He hadn’t seen her since before Spero. He immediately noticed her improved posture, reduced inflammation, and looser muscles. He couldn’t believe what he saw. We’re truly seeing miracles here.

On top of Spero’s therapies, we’re working with a dentist out in OKC who is addressing her TMJ issues, which is huge.

We had originally thought Cam was going to be finished in 12 weeks at Spero, but a healing journey can’t be decided within a certain time frame. We’re now about to start week 13, but we’re aiming to keep our heads high. Every week we’re seeing more progress, and every day we find more pieces of this healing puzzle.

Continue to pray for healing, for hope, and for endurance.

November is CRPS Awareness Month! ’s journey with this condition has been a tough one, but without spreading its awareness, we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Thank you everyone who has supported us on Camille’s healing journey. Spero had orange balloons (the CRPS Ribbon color) outside the doors today. Continue to talk to your friends about this condition and share our posts to spread information about CRPS. Bringing back sunshine is spreading awareness to your friends and family!

We're going to start posting weekly updates from here on out!

This week was back to regular therapies after Cereset. The lasting effects of Cereset are still working in Camille and it's helping her continue to make better progress.

The big picture above is Camille in neuromuscular re-education (NMR). Bryce has been working on Camille's neck and shoulders continually. Her range of motion is continuing to increase, which in turn is helping her muscles communicate properly with her brain. NMR includes not only manual stimulation, but also lots of movement and activity. It's real hard work. NMR uses the Arp Wave device to help Camille's brain rapidly learn new neural pathways.

During piezo therapy this week, the therapist targeted the scar tissue in Camille's jaw. Her jaw has always been a sore spot, and prior to Spero we had seen multiple dentists to see what the root issue could be. Well, turns out there was a massive build up of scar tissue! Even after this week, the range of motion in her jaw has drastically increased. Prior to Spero, she could only open her jaw to about 35mm, or about the size of a grape. Now, she can open her jaw nearly double where she could before! She's able to talk for longer periods of time without intense pain, and is able to chew things she couldn't before.

Additionally, Camille's grandpa came to visit from Russellville this week! And we got to dress up as Daphne and Shaggy along with some other Spero patients to form the whole Scooby-Doo gang, along with one of the therapy dogs fashioned with a Scooby collar. The comradery we have here with other patients is second to none, and we all come together and encourage, support, and care for one another.

All in all, it was a successful week. Pain levels were at a consistent 4 out of 10 this week, with occasional flares up to 5. She is still continuing to ween off heavier pain meds and is starting to just use over-the-counter medicine like tylenol and ibuprofen. This is huge in her continued progress!

Thanks for your continued support and prayer. We feel it.

We have launched our next Bring Back Sunshine t-shirt campaign!

Thanks to your support, we are nearly 100% fundraised for the full clinic costs for Camille. She is making incredible progress. When Camille is done at The Spero Clinic, we are going to do everything we can to keep her in remission.

The best way we know how to keep her in remission is to get ourselves a medical device that they use at Spero. The ARP Wave is a device that Camille gets to use daily that helps her body heal and re-establish the proper neural pathways. The device itself is $20,000, so we’re going to continue our fundraising efforts to get this machine.

Bringing back sunshine has been our goal with our entire campaign. You wouldn’t believe the incredible progress that Camille is experiencing, and we have to continue our efforts in keeping her healthy. This is a device that Camille will use daily to keep her body functioning at its best. CRPS can stay in remission, and Spero recommends us getting this device to keep it that way!

Kyle, here. The last three weeks have been a whirlwind, but we can confidently say that last week we had a breakthrough.

For the past few weeks, Camille continued to make progress in retraining her body in creating better neural pathways. We continued to see scar tissue break down and increased mobility throughout her body. Her body responds so well to treatment, but pain still stayed around a 5-6 out of 10. Although that was all much needed therapy and her pain levels were much lower, the biggest struggle was that her pain levels weren’t dropping further.

CRPS doesn’t only cause chronic pain, but it causes systems inside your body to stay in a state of stress, in a “fight or flight” response. The stress response in Camille’s brain, the master controller of her central nervous system, was causing a barrier in breaking through to lower pain levels.

On Monday, Camille started a new therapy: Cereset. When your brain is “stuck” in a state of perpetual stress, you don’t feel right and it’s impossible to function at your highest level. Cereset helps your brain free itself from those cycles. See the above photo of Cam in treatment.

When Cam started Cereset, she was told that about 5 in 1000 people experience a pain drop, so it’s not common. But as Cereset was running it’s course, she noticed a big pain drop! What’s even more miraculous throughout her treatment is that Camille’s stress quickly vanished. When I say that I haven’t seen Camille this joyful in over a year, I mean it. Anytime Camille is in a stressful situation, her brain’s tendency was to shut down. Her CRPS made it extremely difficult to get herself out of that state. Now she can effortlessly take her brain out of stress. The positive effects of Cereset will even continue for the next 3 weeks.

We know this will propel Camille’s continued therapies forward. When her response isn’t to shut down but to keep on fighting, her brain will excel in creating healthy neural pathways. Camille’s regular therapies begin again tomorrow, and we know she will now respond even better to them. We’re going into this week knowing we probably are in the home stretch for Camille. Continue to pray for her brain’s healing!

We can’t believe we’re already at the 6 week mark! This whole experience has been incredible, and we want you to know that because of your support in getting Camille here, we are seeing promising results!

All the therapies available at Spero for Camille are helping at restoring balance to her nervous system. Her body is creating new and better neural pathways, which is helping her respond better to treatment. Her overall body sensitivity has gone down, the nerve pain in her jaw and face has lessened, and she is starting to wean off pain medication. Most patients at Spero don’t see a pain drop until around week 7 or 8, but we’ve already seen her overall pain go down in the last few weeks!

We posted about a pain spike this week, but it is common to have good days and bad days throughout this process. What is important to note is that Camille was treated immediately by the Spero staff and they managed to get her pain down to a level 4 (WHICH IS INCREDIBLE), and Camille was much more quickly responsive than she would have been at the beginning of treatment.

What we’ve been telling people is that the process is like moving 3 steps forward and 1 step back, 3 steps forward and 1 step back. Restoring the nervous system is a lengthy process, one that Spero is incredibly experienced in accomplishing. We have a mug at the place we are staying that simply says “Trust the journey”, and it couldn’t be more true. It’s a daily journey where we have to take things one step at a time. Bringing back sunshine isn’t done with a snap of the finger, but with the decision to take one more step in this marathon. Your support and your generosity and your care are the encouragement Camille needs to take those strides one step a time.

We are excited to see what the next few months will look like. We know we will soon see Camille at a pain level ZERO with the progress she is already making. Thanks for joining us on this journey!

Part of Spero’s philosophy with each patient is making the mental shift to believe that healing is coming their way.

There’s a guy at Spero named Trey who’s had CRPS for 11 years and has been wheelchair ridden for 6. His CRPS had made it so difficult to walk that a wheelchair was his only means of transportation.

Notice how I said “was” his only means of transportation.

At the beginning of treatment, he made the mental decision to say that he was going to get walking again. On Camille and I’s first day at Spero, we saw him painstakingly get out of his wheelchair and slowly started walking down the hallways with assistance. You could see the struggle in his eyes, but also the faint glimpse of hope. There was another lady in a wheelchair who saw this happening, looked at us and said “Wow”. We’re sure that even she couldn’t believe that something that had kept her to a wheelchair could be something that could change.

We believe we saw hope kickstart in her that day as well.

Fast forward three weeks from then, and Trey is running, jumping, playing catch, and is not stuck to a wheelchair. He’s not pain free yet, but one step closer to his healing.

His determination to decide that CRPS wasn’t going to keep him down was the factor in getting him up again.

That what this phrase means to Camille and Kyle. It reminds us of Trey getting up and moving. It reminds us of that woman in a wheelchair receiving a glimmer of hope. It reminds us of the progress we’ve seen in Camille, and it inspires us to push on.

Healing is coming.
