Today’s topic focuses on ‘Face Oils for Oily/ Acne-prone skin’. ⁣

I’ve mentioned it before several times and I’ll say it again, if you fear oils and moisturizers simply because you have oily or acne-prone skin, then you need to change your mindset and approach skincare differently if you want to achieve a healthy skin. The key here is to work ‘with’ the skin and not ‘against’ it.☺️⁣

Oils that are right for your skin type can be very beneficial in treating skin concerns. They also help soften the skin, brighten it, prevent trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL) and repair and strengthen skin barrier. Many people think they can replace the moisturizers, which is not true. Oils can not pe*****te the skin barrier deeply or form an occlusive barrier on the skin which moisturizers can do. Hence oils in conjunction with moisturizers help to prevent TEWL. If oils are used on their own without a moisturizer, they don’t moisturize the skin at all. ⁣

Oils are really different from each other. Some are rich and thick while other are very thin and fast-absorbing. People with acne-prone skin tend to have a low percentage of linoleic acid. Hence choosing oils that have higher %age of linoleic acid can help a lot with acne.⁣

Chemical peels are for everyone! Chemical peels are safe and effective in improving and preventing most skin conditions. This client has hyperpigmentation so she is doing a series of chemical peels to address her discoloration. This was her first peel. I can’t wait to see her results!
