Salaams and Warm Greetings,
On Saturday November 27th The American muslim Healthcare Professionals of Texas in Conjunction with MAPS and the Islamic Association of North Texas will hold a panel to to discuss the following:
* What is addiction/substance use?
* What are the signs of addiction?
* What does treatment for addiction look like?
* What can families do to support a loved one suffering from addiction?
* What support is available for families?
The Objectives for this educational meeting are:
1. To dispel misconceptions, such as who can become an addict and how.
2. To understand that addiction can be overcome. This includes alcohol and drugs, including “hard drugs” like he**in.
3. To inform of what is available to help those wanting help, and their families.
We are requesting a psychiatrist or a nurse practitioner certified in addiction medication to speak on a panel for approximately 10 Minutes on these topics alongside a Licensed Therapist, an Imam, and a Person in Recovery in the Dallas Fort Worth Area
If you would like to participate in this panel kindly reply to this message me privately or email Texas.president@amhp.us and we will discuss next steps.
Thank you
Abdur-Rahman Zreba
