We want to play a game!!

We just wrapped up a very special birth. Upon baby’s arrival earthside we found that he had a nuchal cord twice, a nuchal hand, AND the cord was wrapped around his body.🤯
Not only that, but there was also a true knot!🤯🤯

Where there any issues or complications? Absolutely not, because of this God-created substance called Wharton’s jelly (google it!)

Today is your midwife’s 45th birthday!!!

Birthday….to a midwife means so many things…

Experiencing birthdays 30, 40, or 50 times a year is something your midwife does. That makes this midwife appreciate birthdays that much more.

In the past my birthday has not been a day that I necessarily looked forward to every year. It was just another day. However since becoming a midwife I have learned to appreciate each and every birthday. 😊❤️

I appreciate every single birth I am blessed to witness! I am thankful for the families who trust me to care for them and allow me the opportunity to be in their birth space.

This little one came into the world via a planned breech birth after all efforts were made to encourage a turn, but Baby Michael was just too stubborn to flip! 💪💖

Let’s be honest: not every woman is a candidate for home birth. Neither is EVERY woman required to birth in the hospital.

For those who have existing high risk conditions or develop high risk conditions during pregnancy, being at the RIGHT hospital and choosing the appropriate provider that aligns to your desires will make or break your birthing experience.

This is why we at Sweet pea will recommend Richardson Methodist LND team and Dr. Downey and his partners any time. Not because of bureaucracy, we are paid, or have privileges (I ensure you, we DO NOT) but because we know the women we serve and come to us who we need to consult for a higher level of care will be taken care of and handled gracefully and respectfully by their LND team.

We don’t like coming to hospital either, but when a situation presents itself to where more assistance needed, we don’t hesitate to reach out and transfer to Methodist Richardson.

Their staff is knowledgeable, evidenced-based, and respects client’s autonomy.
We fully believe in collaboration and trust between the medical community. How else can we break barriers and stereotypes?? Home births ARE safe… hospital births can be beautiful and respectful.

PLUS - always nice to see the nurse’s sweet and smiling faces and catch up from the last time - which is a LOOONNNNGGG time🤪
