Hi, my name is Kristin Halsey, and I’m the founder of a Facebook Group for Mom’s titled “CBD Benefits for Children” and I’m also Founder & CEO of LOL Drops LLC, the first water-soluble CBD product line designed specifically for children.
My story is simple, I’m a Mom who loves children and want the best possible health and happiness for my kids and those of my friends’ (and every Mom and child for that matter :)
My early love of Children lead me into the teaching profession when I graduated college in 1999. I was a first grade teacher until 2006, when I gave birth to my first son (Jensen) and became a full-time Mom. I went on to have two more boys, (Hudson) and (Preston).
I was first introduced to CBD in 2018 when my best friend, Marsha (more on her later), told me how she had found a CBD product that had basically removed her anxiety and was also providing her with the best sleep she had seen in years (maybe since becoming a Mom).
I have to admit, I was a bit slow in terms of warming up to CBD and actually trying it myself, but once I finally did I was an immediate fan for the same reasons Marsha had found, I saw reduced anxiety, improved sleep, but even improved and balanced mood, appetite control, and just overall a feeling of balance and happiness.
As I researched more, I started seeing more and more discussions and articles on the health benefits CBD could possibly provide Children and I was instantly obsessed with this topic, trying to get my hands on any information I could find. Many of my closest friends have children with health & behavior challenges so I was personally determined to research and “vet out” if CBD could provide any relief for them and my own children.
Bioavailability of CBD
I will be the first to admit, I didn’t even know what “Bioavailability” meant 6 months ago. For those like me, it “simple terms” it means the absorption rate of a supplement or medicine in terms of getting into the blood stream of the patient taking the product.
Why this is important as it relates to CBD is CBD has a notoriously low bioavailability because it’s natural carrier into the body is oil, which in it’s most common form can not be absorbed by the stomach (molecules too large), which is why adult’s most commonly consume it sublingually (under the tongue), where it’s usually held for up to 2 minutes. What I learned is that even doing this, the absorption is still less than 30%.
Now, I don’t know about your children, but getting my children to take a product sublingually is something their attention spans, or interest level, is not accommodating or conducive to doing.
So, here is where I was stalled with a challenge to myself. Is there a way to design a product that is CBD infused but is conducive to how children would consume them.
In steps some assistance from my husband, who is the Founder and CEO of Bellatorra Skin Care, a skin care company that years ago developed a “nanotechnology delivery system” that reduced the active ingredients in their products to a size they could pe*****te all of the layers of the skin, which produced a product with considerably higher effectiveness than other skin care products that were only able to pe*****te the top two layers of the skin.
Could this “nanotech” technology be applied to CBD, enabling a CBD molecule size to be reduced to a size that the stomach could absorb, making the ability to simply swallow the product without having to take sublingually?
The answer is Yes. Our finished product is a water-soluble “nano tech delivery system” that per lab testing results in a 95% absorption rate and most importantly, the ability for a child to simply add our “CBD Drops” to water, juice, or simply just place in the mouth and swallow. We began testing the product with friends and their children, many of which have health and/or behavior issues and a high need for supplements or medications to help deal.
The results we feel speak for themselves. With CBD research still so new and lacking, we believe the best research is testimonials from parents actually taking CBD products and able to provide their “real life results” with others.
So, the reason for creating the CBD Benefits for Children group is to give us Mom’s a place we can come together, share CBD information, share our experiences, and in doing so each of us gain a better understanding of CBD and hopefully gain a better quality of life for us and our little ones (well, some not so little, the products are excellent for teenagers as well).
Thank you for being here and please, please, please, always feel free to reach out to me directly, I value your feedback and suggestions how we can make this group community better.
Love,
Kristin
