We were created for freedom—but our nervous systems weren’t designed for constant stimulation, comparison, and chronic overwhelm. ✨ From a somatic perspective, the body thrives in rhythms of safety, movement, sunlight, connection, rest, and presence—not endless scrolling and stress activation.

True freedom isn’t doing whatever we feel in the moment; it’s having the capacity to choose what leads to peace. 🤍

“Use your freedom… rather, serve one another humbly in love.” — Galatians 5:13

What’s one way you’re helping your body return to peace this week?

A little personal 🤍 Hi, I’m Anna—a Ph.D., counselor, yoga teacher, and new mom. I specialize in perinatal mental health and have advanced training through .

And still… I experience postpartum anxiety.

I’m a mental health professional—and I still experience postpartum anxiety.
I go to therapy myself—and I still experience postpartum anxiety.
I’m passionate about nervous system regulation tools—and I still experience postpartum anxiety.
I’m a follower of Jesus—and I still experience postpartum anxiety.

Two seemingly opposing truths can exist at the same time. That’s the power of dialectics. You can be deeply equipped and still deeply human.

If this is your story too, you are not alone. It’s okay to not be okay, friends. And with support, healing does come. 🤍

What if healing doesn’t always look like doing more… but slowing down enough to be present? 🤍

In a world that rewards hurry, choosing slowness can feel countercultural. But often, our nervous systems, our relationships, and our faith flourish in the quiet rhythms we make space for. ☕📖🌿

This week, I’m inviting slowness through presence over productivity—less rushing, more noticing.

How are you inviting slowness into your home this week? ✨

We can learn a lot from our shadows or our triggers. Do not shy away, take the opportunity to shift your gaze inward. How can you learn to befriend your responses rather than label or judge?

Healing doesn’t always look like feeling better.
Sometimes it looks like pausing instead of reacting.
Letting emotions move through you without drowning in them.
Rest beginning to feel safe again.
Staying with yourself when things feel hard.

If you’re noticing these shifts—even quietly—
your body is learning safety.

This is slow work.
Holy work.
And you’re not behind.

🤍 Save this for the days healing feels invisible.

Will you join us? ❤️

If you feel like you’re under constant stress, and you’d like to feel God’s peace that He offers, check out this new study happening at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church!

Rest for Our Souls: Heal Chronic Stress & Live in God’s Peace is a four-week series in which we’ll explore how God created our minds, bodies and spirits to work together.

This class will be offered by Anna Valentine of March Holistic Christian Counseling on Sundays at 5:30 p.m., beginning February 15.

Anna will lead us as we talk about our nervous system (how our bodies respond to stress and safety), how relationships shape us and how God designed us for secure, loving connection with Him and with others. This series is for anyone who wants to better understand themselves, grow in emotional and spiritual health and experience deeper peace, trust and connection with God in everyday life.
