Our Story
For over 37 years, the Center has provided programs of interest to le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) community members and critical assistance to people living with HIV and AIDS and for their families. The programs of Resource Center promote understanding of the LGBTQ community and aim to eradicate the spread of HIV and AIDS.
Resource Center is one of the primary le***an, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) and HIV/AIDS service organizations in North Texas. The Center offers many LGBTQ services to the community and operates one of the largest LGBTQ Community Centers in the United States. The Community Center is home to a variety of community organizations and serves over 62,000 people each year through its programs and services.
Through its health and medical services, the Center is a leader in HIV/AIDS education, prevention, and services, always putting itself at the forefront in the battle against this epidemic. In addition, the Center provides a full spectrum of STI prevention education, screenings and treatments.
A staff of over 70 part and full-time staff members are supported by over 1,200 volunteers. Resource Center operates operates Behavioral Health, Dental Health, GenderBrave, Grupo Orgullo Hispano (GOH), FUSE, Health Campus, LGBTQ Community Center, LGBTQ Health, Nelson-Tebedo, THRIVE, United Black Ellument (UBE), Women with Pride and Youth First.
The Center is governed by a board of directors and operates through a combination of funds from individual donors, special events, private foundations, corporations and government grants. The Center is open 354 days a year.
