✨ For many of our families, today is the first day of school! After pickup, those little moments in the car or at the dinner table are golden for building connection and language skills.

Instead of “How was your day?” (which usually gets a “fine”), try questions that help kids reflect, share, and practice storytelling—skills that support social, emotional, and communication growth.

💬 “What’s something that made you smile today?”
💬 “Who did you enjoy spending time with?”
💬 “What’s one thing you’re excited to do tomorrow?”

Specific questions = detailed answers

✏️ Back to School, Back to Routine!

Transitions can be hard - for kids AND grown-ups. Whether your child is starting preschool or heading back for another year, having a predictable routine can ease anxiety and support learning.
Here are a few therapist-approved tips for a smoother start:
– Use visual schedules to show morning routines
– Do a backpack “practice run” the weekend before
– Build in buffer time (for snack breaks, wiggles, or big feelings)
– Talk through “what to expect” at school
– Keep after-school transitions calm and consistent
Routines don’t have to be perfect—just predictable.

Kids thrive when they know what’s coming next! 💙

Ever notice how your little one copies everything you do? 👀 From clapping hands to pretending to talk on the phone, that’s imitation — and it’s one of the most powerful ways children learn. 💡✨

Imitation helps babies, toddlers, and preschoolers build language, social skills, and an understanding of the world around them. 🧠💬

In this post, we break down what imitation typically looks like at different ages and how you can support it through everyday play and connection. đź’ž

🧸 Tip: The more you engage, talk, and model behaviors, the more your child learns — just by watching you!

It’s totally normal for early readers to stumble, guess, and need lots of support. But when reading frustration sticks around, or confidence starts to drop, it’s worth digging deeper.
📚 Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 children, but often goes undiagnosed for years.
The good news? Early screening and support make a huge difference.

We offer tutoring for both dyslexia and reading - give us a call to learn more!
