For over 40 years, Clinical Pediatrics has been dedicated to the care of your children. John Baskin and Jim McKinney left a legacy of medical excellence that is at the core of Clinical Pediatrics. We love helping parents though the triumphs and challenges of their child’s infancy through their young adulthood. It’s a special treat to now be caring for a number of “grandpatients”. Please feel free

to schedule a “prenatal visit” at Clinical Pediatrics. Our office is centrally located across from Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas in the Woodhill Medical Park. We are open 7 days a week with extended business hours during peak times of year. Free parking, stroller friendly building entrance, and same day sick visit appointments add to your convenience.

Phase 1 of the “Open Texas” plan becomes effective today, so we have decided to start scheduling more non-essential check-ups. If you child is due for an exam, please contact our office to schedule. We are still booking well children in the mornings only and reserving the afternoons for our sick appointments.
Even though some businesses are re-opening, we strongly encourage you to keep practicing social distancing and maintain a strict hand-washing and cleaning regiment. If you have a mask, continue to wear it when out in public. As always, we are here if you have any questions or concerns. If you are unsure about any of the COVID-19 guidelines, feel free to contact our office so we may assist you.

As the current situation surrounding COVID-19 evolves, our first priority is the health and safety of your family and we are dedicated to maintaining our patient's physical as well as mental health.

During these times of stress, it can be easy to overlook one's mental health and how we and our families are coping with these sudden life changes.

Below is a link to a free activity book from The Children's Psychological Health Center titled, "My Pandemic Story". It is a simple and straightforward guide that encourages creative expression, learning, and coping during a pandemic. The book is a useful tool to help children and families overcome unpleasant memories and fears during this time of change and can be a helpful guide to documenting your family's emotional journey during this time of uncertainty.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office. Our doctors and staff are always available to address your concerns.

Our office is open and we are seeing well visits in the mornings only and sick children are being seen as telemedicine visits in the afternoons. Consultations and follow-up visits may be done as telemedicine visits as well. We are committed to the safety of you and your children and want to assure that we are doing everything in our power to keep them healthy. Our office undergoes a strict cleaning regiment on an hourly basis and we are utilizing all of the necessary PPE equipment. If you have any questions or concerns about COVID-19, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We cannot do COVID-19 testing in the office, so if your child is exhibiting symptoms, please call our office so we can evaluate the situation.

Telemedicine visits are charged to your insurance much like a regular office visit and your copay and/or balances can be paid on our patient portal.

There are no extra fees for a telemedicine visit and the website that we use is a secure web-based video conferencing site made for doctors.

I'd like to share a rather unusual, free, parenting education resource...bumper stickers! Advancing Parenting, a Camarillo CA nonprofit, produces parenting tips bumper stickers and makes them available at no cost to businesses, organizations, clinics, schools, and individuals. There are fifty-one in a set and each bumper sticker communicates a parenting behavior or practice generally recognized as supporting the healthy development of children. Just one will be read thousands of times!

Bumper stickers are a unique and powerful way to educate everyone about parenting. At stoplights drivers and passengers point, smile, and nod. Conversations begin and often a phone is used to take a photo of the sticker right at the stoplight. Presumably, they are being shared on social media. It's wonderful to see!

Sets of the stickers can be put in holders and placed on counters and tables so folks can select one or more for their cars. Visit www.advancingparenting.org to order this free resource. Use a computer...our website is not optimized for phones. Please share.
