🔥 BREAKING NEWS: The 4th Trimester Now Lasts Forever! 🔥

🚨 Scientists (aka every mom ever) have confirmed it: Postpartum never really ends. You thought you were moving on? HA. Your body, your mind, and your whole identity are still adjusting in ways no one prepared you for.

And honestly? I get it and am living it myself.

Hi, I’m Miranda, and if we haven’t met (or if you’ve been around but life got busy—because, kids), I’m a mom, firefighter wife, Christ follower, nature & exercise lover, and mom empowerer. As a movement specialist and pelvic floor PT, I’m passionate about guiding women through postpartum recovery and wellness. After my own journey through pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond (twice), I have realized just how little support we get for our bodies after birth. And I knew I had to change that.

💡 Because postpartum isn’t just the first twelve weeks. Or the first twelve months. It’s a lifelong transition, one that deserves real care and support through each stage!

That’s why I do what I do: to help moms feel strong, supported, and empowered in their bodies, no matter where they are in their journey. No snapback culture. No “just live with it” mentality. Just real guidance to help you feel like you again🫶

As 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on what this year has truly meant. It’s been a year of growth, change, and learning to slow down, something I never knew I needed so much. Amid the whirlwind of life, I made a conscious effort to step back, breathe, and connect more deeply with myself and, most importantly, with my family.

This year reminded me of the beauty of simplicity. Life isn’t about rushing to the next milestone or achievement; it’s about savoring the now. Putting our phones down and being fully present.

As I say goodbye to 2024, I’m carrying with me the lesson that slowing down isn’t falling behind, it’s finding alignment with what truly matters most. Here’s to walking into 2025 with an open heart, a grateful spirit, and a bigger family filling me with even more love and joy.

Cheers to another chapter, and to all of us finding the time to truly be in the moments that matter most and prioritize what fills our cups🥂

My Birth Story Part 2: Late Labor & Delivery
We were surprised by what happened after 7:40 PM when we left the house. We got down the road and notified my midwife that we were on our way to the hospital. We had a 45 minute drive there and as the car ride went on, my contractions got stronger and more consistent at the 5 minute mark. By the time we got about 30 minutes down the road, they were 3 minutes apart and very strong where I had to focus and breathe through them.

We quickly dropped our daughter off with my sister and then with a short drive to the hospital, we got there around 8:30 PM. I wanted my husband to stay with me so we parked in the parking garage and made our way into the hospital as fast as we could as contractions allowed.

We checked in at the OB ER and I tried my best to answer questions as I hunched over the desk. After they got what they needed, we were taken back to a room. There, the nurse asked more medical history questions, which I am sure most women probably aren’t that far along in labor when they get to the hospital, but I was not in the mood to answer question.

My husband had to answer what he could for me and I remember thinking “I don’t know if I can make it through all these questions” and “will I even make it to the delivery room”. Not long later my midwife comes in and asks some more questions. I start feeling the need to push and notify her. Then they cart me in the bed to the delivery room and my husband quickly gives and reviews my birth plan with them.

We get into the room with several people getting things ready. After my contraction passed they helped me to the other bed and at that time chose to be on my side and breathe through the next contraction. I felt like it was time and my midwife asked if I would like her to check my cervix and I quickly said yes to verify if we were there. She said “sure enough you’re at 10” and I was so relieved because if I wasn’t, I didn’t know how much longer I could hang in there. I made my way into my preferred position of hands and knees and started to prep for pushing. (Continued in the comments 👇🏻)

Part 1: Early Labor
Overall my labor and delivery went smoothly and were full of a mix of emotions from excitement to frustration. The anticipation grew around 5:00 AM on October 27th (40W2D), when I felt a gentle and consistent tightening in my abdomen while lying in bed. I tried not to get too excited in case it was false labor or just needing to go to the bathroom. I lay there still trying to sleep and glancing at the clock when I felt the contractions. Once I felt a few consistently each 15-20 minutes apart, I looked at my husband and said “Don’t get too excited yet, but it might be baby day!” I called our midwife and she reviewed the process for if things did progress.

We just took our day in stride and started with our usual breakfast, I did some laundry, made sure all bags were ready, and did my early labor stretches. With my first, my water broke and I went straight to the hospital, so this time around was different with contractions starting first and being able to labor at home as long as I could. With the anticipation, it was hard to sit still but I did remind myself to conserve energy where I could, so I did get in a little nap. Most of my day otherwise was doing birth prep exercises (with a 4 year old on me at times lol), walking, playing with my daughter, snacking, and hydrating, with some Sunday football on in the background.

Frustration hit by lunch and the afternoon when I had gone several hours with no signs of progress in my contractions. I went into this pregnancy believing that since it was my second child, she would probably come sooner and I would have a shorter labor. I had my first natural through vaginal delivery with a 14 hour total labor. So I compared the current pregnancy to that and thought “Well if it’s going to be faster or the same, I should be halfway by now” but I was not feeling that progress at all.

This is where comparison and expectations set me up for failure with my mindset at this stage. As the afternoon came with still no change, I got emotional because it was looking like what I expected to happen was not going to happen.
