It’s not always one big event that signals it’s time for help. Often, it’s a series of small, subtle changes that add up over time.
Here are a few signs to pay attention to:
🍽️ Meals are skipped, spoiled, or not prepared at all. Check the refrigerator or pantry. Are there items there that should have been used throughout the week?
💊 Medications are missed or mixed up. Are there too many or too few pills left in the bottle?
🧼 Personal hygiene isn’t what it used to be. Look for signs of skipped routines.
🧾 Bills are left unpaid. Is mail piling up? Are you finding past due notices or late fees?
🗓️ Confusion about dates, time, or appointments. Look for missed appointments or statements like, "I haven't seen you in so long," even when you were there very recently.
🚪 They’ve become more isolated or withdrawn. Fewer phone calls or requests for visitors could indicate a reason for concern.
🧹 The home feels cluttered or less safe. Clutter can create trip hazards or difficulty finding meds or other critical needs.
🧠 You notice more forgetfulness, mood changes, or anxiety. If they just don't seem themselves, it could be time for further evaluation.
If any of these feel familiar, it may be time to explore additional support, gently, thoughtfully, and with love.
You don't have to do this alone! I'm here to help ~
