Thank you Dallas Genealogical Society for the great story about the cemetery tour and, more importantly, all of the hard work that volunteers from DGS, Friends of Oakland Cemetery Dallas, and the Oakland Cemetery Lot Owners Association did to get Oakland Cemetery ready for the big day.
Hello,

I'm a french historian from Normandy and I'm looking for informations about this helmet. It's owner name was James Ward Smith. He lived in Texas and died in 1961.

https://aad.archives.gov/aad/record-detail.jsp?dt=893&mtch=1&cat=all&tf=F&sc=24994,24995,24996,24998,24997,24993,24981,24983&q=18005283&bc=sl,fd&rpp=10&pg=1&rid=1493760

I'd like to find his family.

Could you help me ?

Thank you.
We had a great time last weekend with the Friends of the Oakland Cemetery in Dallas as we hosted a stop on the Preservation Dallas Cemetery tour. We all enjoyed great weather, met new friends, and welcomed close to 100 guests to tour this majestic cemetery with it's unique sculptures marking the graves of many of Dallas' founding fathers. Thursday is National Immigrants Day. It's a day we all get to party, since unless you are 100% Native American, your ancestors immigrated to America! Mine landed on the mid-southern Atlantic coast and made their way south across the Gulf Coast. How did your ancestor's get to America?
Dallas Genealogical Society is sponsoring Oakland Cemetery for the Preservation Dallas 2021 Fall Tour – Cemeteries of Dallas, and we would love your help on Saturday, October 30th! There are many ways to get involved. Please come out and meet people who share a passion for historic preservation, family history, and cemeteries!
