We want to connect and walk alongside you and your family as you grow and ultimately heal. At Sacred Space Counseling Center, we use a variety of ther**eutic modalities (i.e.: sand tray, art, play therapy, traditional therapy, etc.) to meet each client where they are developmentally and emotionally. In the first session, we collaborate with the individual/family to develop a treatment plan to addr
ess their individual/family needs. We approach problems from a systemic lens knowing that the individual does not live in a vacuum. The individual's thoughts, feelings, and actions impact his/her family and the other family member's thoughts, feelings, and actions impact the individual. We believe that healing is possible! Within a supportive environment designed to explore emotional patterns, an individual or family can identify those patterns that are working and those patterns that are not working. Once the patterns are identified, the individual or family can develop a plan for change! We charge up to 150 per hour for counseling, and we are willing to figure out a rate that makes counseling feasible for our individual clients. We look forward to hearing from you regarding your individual and/or family needs. Counselor Biographies...
Brandi M. Smith, Ph.D., LPC-S -
Brandi is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board-Approved Supervisor. She holds a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, TX. Dr. Smith has extensively studied interactions within families with a minor diagnosed with Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal (PANDAS). Under the guidance of Dr. Terry Hargrave, Dr. Smith received a Level II Certification in Restoration Therapy. As a Restoration Therapist, she encourages individuals and families to identify long-standing patterns of relational pain, recognize their regulating truth, and take risks to embrace new patterns of relational peace. Dr. Smith utilizes both child-centered and synergetic play therapy techniques to assist young children as they move toward big feelings and learn strategies for self-regulation. Having spent many years counseling child, adolescent, and adult survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, Dr. Smith has extensive experience working with trauma survivors. Beyond that, her clinical training and experience encompass a variety of issues that include: child/parent relational challenges, attachment issues, marital conflict, life transitions, depression, suicidality, anxiety, gender/sexual identity issues, and grief. Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, Dr. Smith was alternatively certified as a Special Education Teacher and worked with individuals and families with seemingly insurmountable challenges. During this time, she learned that within the framework of a supportive relationship, her students and families were able to take risks and begin thinking outside of the box to address their day-to-day challenges. Dr. Smith carries this philosophy into the counseling room. She believes individuals are resilient and can find healing as they feel safe enough to take risks and practice healthier patterns relationally. Heather M. Cawthon, Ph.D., LPC-S, EMDR CIT
