For my birthday this year, I asked my son-in-law and daughter if they would hang our flag on our house. I love our flag! Its righteous white, blood sacrificial red, and courageous blue. Every aspect of its make-up tells the story of America and the price that has been paid for our freedom. And what great freedoms we have enjoyed.
Freedom of religion to boldly proclaim our Savior's so great salvation and worship God without fear of peril . Freedom of want to be able to visit a grocery store and have food at our fingertips. Freedom of speech without reprisal of dissent; and freedom of the press to serve as checks and balances against those who oppose our democracy. Freedom of fear knowing that our citizenry is willing to give their lives for our country to keep LIBERTY alive!
As is the theme of freedom, however, great sacrifices have been made to give us these freedoms. Those willing to stand for Christ in a godless world under threat of losing their livelihoods. Those willing to farm our beautiful land and trust our Omnipotent God to provide. Those willing to speak truth even when it costs them their lives and the lives of their families. Those willing to serve our country (fallible as it is) at great sacrifice to preserve these freedoms we enjoy.
Freedom was never free. We ALL have entered into labors that call upon us to sacrifice to protect and preserve that which others have purchased with their own blood.
These are the freedoms our beautiful flag represents. These are the freedoms that distinguish us from all other countries. These are the freedoms that are in jeopardy every day. Thank you, Lord, for giving us the United States of America. America, America, God shed His grace on thee and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.
Let freedom ring!
