For Love & Art

For Love & Art For Love & Art stimulates well being through art appreciation. And how she treasured them! Art has power that flows beyond mere understanding.

Art Angel volunteers showcase and discuss masterpieces from our partner museums to delight, astonish, intrigue, and comfort folks who need it most. For Love and Art Project:
Bringing the Art Experience to Those with Limited Mobility!

“In service of community, sparkling opportunities surprisingly arise.”

As a hospice volunteer, I challenged Miss Billie to regain enough strength in her failing lim

bs to allow us to visit the city museum. Loving art as much as she did, she gave it her best effort, yet could not surmount the toll of her years. So, like the mountain coming to the prophet, I began bringing pieces of the museum, gift shop postcards, to Miss Billie. Their power and beauty created a blessed respite from worldly trials and tribulations and celebration ensued! Art enlivens and nourishes, stimulates and sustains-indeed, some call it food for the soul. Our museums simultaneously protect, display, explain, and share these gems with a grateful public. Still, there are those individuals who have the desire but lack the mobility to visit our cultural repositories. Designed to work in harmony with museum outreach programs, community charities, and qualifying healthcare facilities, For Love & Art delivers the Art Experience to them. Consistent with their mission of community service, our partner museums have generously provided imagery of their popular works, with apt commentary. These vibrant images displayed in ArtBooks are then donated to area hospices, hospitals, Senior Living Communities, VA Medical Centers, and similar venues. Caregiver volunteers share the masterpieces of these great museums with their residents sparking conversation, reflection, recollection and celebration. Philanthropic organizations and individuals collaborate in our mission by endowing ArtBooks to worthy facilities in their communities. I invite you to take action now, help fulfill the project in your community and heighten the quality of life for hundreds of individuals who otherwise would not be able to share in the Art Experience... Earlier this spring, our community came together for Postcards in the Park - a special afternoon dedicated to creating handmade postcards for the residents of St. Joseph’s Residence 💌

Filled with kind words, colorful artwork, and thoughtful messages, each postcard was created to remind seniors that they are seen, valued, and cared for.

We recently had the joy of delivering the postcards, and seeing the smiles they brought was a beautiful reminder that even small acts of creativity and kindness can make a meaningful impact. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped spread connection through art. 💛

What a fantastic way to begin the week! Our partner Kimbell Art Museum shared a gem that brightens our day. This is one of many art works in their collection that will make you stop scrolling.

Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller, born today in 1793, was one of Austria’s most celebrated painters.

Take a look at “Dog Guarding a Basket of Grapes” (1836) from our collection.

The painting is set in a vineyard on the outskirts of Vienna, with the Danube River and village of Heiligenstadt in the distance. Waldmüller’s mastery of light, color, and detail makes this scene come alive.

Although he influenced a generation of artists, his paintings are rarely seen in American museums. Most of his fame today remains in Europe—making this work even more special!

What do you think of Waldmüller’s style?

See this remarkable painting on view in the north gallery of the Kahn Building.
