These kids love Creative Movement. Being able to freely express themselves through movement without being inhibited makes them grow strong socially and emotionally.

Sharing Emotion Cushions with the kiddos at Smart Start Montessori. Creative Movement time is the best time. We talked about our emotions and then moved to see how they felt in our bodies. Emotional Intelligence doesn't get enough press time with our kids. Thanks Kaplan Early Learning Company for these great teaching tools.
For learning to occur, focusing on the strengths and skills of the child gives the child motivation and opportunity to learn in the ways that the child learns BEST. Children鈥檚 different strengths may influence how children make sense of the world.
Children are like crayons. No matter what color, what size, what shape, what condition or how old they may be, both are capable of beautiful things when given a loving hand to guide them.
Absolutely LOVE this!
It warms my heart to see this hanging on the wall at my son's school.
If only I could bottle this up and set it up for mass distribution with a never ending expiration date and unlimited refills.
Honored to be one of the Dallas Entrepreneurs featured at The Tory Burch Foundation event.
This made me chuckle.
Everyday is different but the steps don't change.
Every child should learn this as early as possible. Not only does this teach life coping skills but it also teaches self-control....one of the first keys of self-discipline.
You may wonder why a dance company posts messages about social/emotional development and interaction more than fancy turns and proper foot placement. That's because we use movement as a tool to help strengthen an individual's ability to express him/herself as well as communicate those feelings to others. Our specialty is Toddlers. Expression is essential to communication and communication is essential to development. That's our Why.
BE A BAND-AID! If you know anything about kids, toddlers in particular, they believe that band-aids make everything better. Whether it's a burn, pinch, hangnail, scrape or bite. Apply a band-aid and you have a calm child. Why is that? Because band-aids offer a solution to a problem without question to the source of it. It covers and teaches a life lesson at the same time. There is healing on the other side of hurt.
An open mind and opportunity can often spark creativity! When was the last time you made space goggles using an egg carton?
Thoughts, feelings and behavior are all connected. Helping a child identify his inner thoughts and replace bad thoughts with positive thoughts ultimately allows him to become a positive individual, creating positive life results.
When Sebastian is creatively stacking his blocks, he does not like to be disturbed. I did manage to get a quick picture in. This exercise teaches patience, self confidence in motion "I can stack these blocks and they won't fall" and a sense of accomplishment that calls for self praise "I did it!" Gotta love these moments!
Try to catch your little one being good! It can be a natural tendency for the attention to be drawn to something that IS NOT done right and harp on the fact. However, it's a good practice to catch your child doing something good as well and reward them with supportive praise. Supportive praise reinforces the good behavior. Remember, there is a difference in praising the child "for being" and praising the behavior "of doing."
My little guy enjoyed the Eggstravaganza today! Gobs of eggs on deck!
Something important to remember when parenting, when teaching, when coaching, when disciplining, when going through the hustle and bustle of life.
A child's hierarchy of needs are the same as an adult's to a certain degree. When these needs go unmet, we are socially/emotionally disabled and ill-equipped. We therefore become more prone to suffer identity crisis due to not being taught who we are, how to manage who we are or how we matter in the world.
Here is some very sound advice...take heed mothers!
Age appropriate responsibility breeds accountability which breeds character. Don't limit what your child can do merely because of his age. Find a connect in his abilities to highlight his strengths.
It's natural to worry about life and especially about our kids, but is your worry harmful or helpful? One way to keep your worry in check is to identify if you are worrying about something in the present (happening now) or the future (might happen). Worrying in and of itself changes nothing but we can often overwhelm ourselves with the preoccupation of what could happen so much so that we create the actual events. Remember: Anxiety breeds more anxiety.
Does your little one have energy like this? Come to our class at Kidd Springs Rec center this Saturday!
Food for thought!
Did you know Perpetual Motion partners with local child care centers to provide dance classes at the centers? We provide Creative Movement for children ages 2-6 years old. Our movement classes help build self esteem and character with the use of affirmations. We focus on the Social/Emotional Learning aspect by incorporating it in a fun, physical and ladder concept that can be built upon.
If you think your child's school might be interested in hosting dance classes on site, please message us and we can set up a free demo!

A smile has super special powers. It can calm fear, remove insecurity, heal hurt and eradicate anxiety. Once the smiling muscles in our face contract, there is a positive feedback track that goes back to the brain and reinforces the feeling of joy. It's no accident that feeling happy is one of the first emotions that we are taught.
As children, we are not equipped with the capacity to deflect. We are not able to run away mentally or physically from our experiences. We tend to absorb all of our experiences into our emotional body. We believe that our parents and peers treat us the way we deserve to be treated. We have no way of knowing that our father is afraid of intimacy or our mother is a narcissist. So when a parent ignores us, invalidates our feelings or seems bothered by us, we believe it is because there is something wrong with us. This becomes the emotional signature we carry into our adolescent and adult lives. -Jena Bloch
Be careful of how you mirror your children and what images (verbal & non verbal) you reflect. They watch, they absorb and they imitate.
Today is National Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss Day). Thanks for making reading so fun.
I implore you to pick up a book and read...to yourself, to your children, to a senior, to anyone who will listen. Enjoy the excitement that words bring us.
