Nothing like the grin of victory after birth! Lots of hard work to get here. First birth was a cesarean, so mom did all the things she could to prepare for this VBAC. At the end of pregnancy, blood pressure began to tell us it was time to have this baby. A membrane sweep helped begin labor and the next day we had a baby in our arms!

After labor is over, the baby is born, we often need a little while to come back into ourselves. This too is sacred.

This is a natural time for baby to spend with other loved ones or simply next to mom.

Traditionally, postpartum is considered a cold condition, and balancing with warm foods, comfort, and rest helps to restore homeostasis.

See that little hand up by the head? Earlier I had done a membrane sweep and manual readjustment of baby's asynclitic head. And something I'd never experienced before happened--he grabbed my finger through the amniotic sac! It was quite a sensation to feel that from inside the womb--it actually startled me! A truly between-worlds moment.

We were delighted to welcome back this repeat client! While the previous pregnancy with us was pretty uneventful, in this one we discovered gestational diabetes and a baby eager to be born. We all worked together to manage with diet, supplements, and exercise to keep things healthy. Welcomed him earth side quickly and smoothly! It’s a beautiful thing to see a family complete. 🙏🏽

Second May baby was a fun story! Mom, an RN, came to care just a few weeks before birth. Got to 41 weeks, hanging out pre-labor at 5cm! Got things started with a membrane sweep, but still no active labor. We did a manual rotation of baby’s asynclitic head the next morning and labor began straightaway! A few hours later we got to pushing. Baby did have a shoulder dystocia which resolved with some position changes and maneuvers. Although we hope for smooth births every time, we are grateful to be able to assist when needed. 🙏🏽 Midwives save lives!

Our Story

Anissa Sartini, Licensed Midwife and Certified Professional Midwife. I am currently accepting clients! Midwives provide full prenatal, birth, and postpartum healthcare, as well as physical, emotional, and educational support. I provide a combination of modern evidence-based and traditional herbal and midwifery care. I specialize in first births, VBAC, trauma informed, and LGBTQ care. All faiths, races, ethnicities, classes, and abilities are welcome in my practice. If you or anyone you know in the greater DFW area is pregnant, trying to conceive, or has a newborn, I'd love to work with you! I work on a sliding scale for all services so that I may serve families from all income levels. On a case by case basis I accept high risk doula clients who cannot safely birth outside the hospital.
