The Great Resignation is here. 😮

We were blown away by the stats and anecdotes in the recent @inc article, so we're bringing you the highlights:

- According to a survey conducted by LinkedIn, 74% of those surveyed indicated that the time spent at home during the pandemic, had caused them to rethink their current work situation

- The top reasons employees cited for considering a new job or career are 1) stress and burnout in their current position, sometimes exacerbated by toxic managers; 2) wanting to stay at home with kids instead of having a two-income household; 3) feeling unsafe returning to the office when the employer required it.

- The number one thing business can do to stem the tide is "in a word, CARE... The smartest business leaders today are taking the time to ask their associates regularly and formally what is and is not going well as they navigate this strange new world."

In this new post-pandemic frontier, CARING for your workers and their whole health has got to be employer's number one priority. We're grateful to work with forward-thinking organizations who invest in regular mental wellness trainings for their people, knowing that their employees (and their healthy brains!) are their number one resource.

It's World Letter Writing Day! Writing notes may seem an antiquated way to connect, but there are REAL 🧠 health benefits to writing letters:

1) Writing to loved ones can increase feelings of social connection (even during physical distancing protocols) and help you and those you love feel less isolated.

2) Writing (even just one) gratitude note in particular has been shown to have lasting benefits on well-being and stress resilience.

3) Hand-writing integrates the right and left hemispheres of the brain, allowing you to process emotions, ideas and memories through your left hemisphere verbal centers.

Happy National Dog Day! At Mastermind we love our "mascot" Happy the dog 🐶. She lives up to her name with friendly greetings and warm cuddles.

And dogs aren't just subjectively delightful -- there's evidence that pets can improve our lives by helping us build social capital, motivating healthy lifestyle choices, and even aiding in the management of many health conditions including depression and stress (a lot of the same benefits as mindfulness practice!).

😮 A new Microsoft survey shows 41% of workers (and over half of Gen Z workers) are considering quitting their jobs.

Clearly the pandemic brought a lot of us to our breaking point, making more of us think about getting a much-needed break by handing in our resignation.

Many organizations are stepping up to the plate to support their workers and keep them engaged -- 53% of companies now provide emotional and mental health programs for their workforce.

At Mastermind, we're grateful to be part of the solution to employee burnout, overwhelm, and turnover. We offer secular, science-based mindfulness and emotional intelligence resources to organizations worldwide.

Covid was really hard on the wellness world for a while. It's our mission at Mastermind to support and partner with women-owned businesses like Kota Wellness and The Mat Yoga Studio because we believe we're stronger together, and people need mental health resources now more than ever ❤️

We took this selfie with Kota's CEO Emily after a brainstorming coffee last week, where we made plans to bring mindfulness & mental health tools to DFW commercial real estate properties. Be on the lookout for new *in-person* Dallas classes coming to an office building near you.

Is it just us or have you been having trouble sleeping too?

So many factors, from stress and anxiety to physical pain to natural environmental fluctuations can impact our ability to get a good night's rest.

The good news? Multiple recent studies have indicated that a daily meditation practice can reduce symptoms of insomnia, including helping meditators fall asleep faster and lessening their wake time during the night.

Try starting with 2 minutes of daily practice where you focus on the rise and fall of your breath or the sensations of your feet on the floor. Then you can use these techniques to help you fall (back) asleep at night as well!

Christy Lermer’s mindfulness journey began 13 years with the mindful movement practice of yoga. She fell in love with the feeling of her mind and body connected in the present movement.

It was during her 200-hour yoga teacher training several years later that Christy was introduced to Dorsey Standish and Mastermind Meditate for the first time. Christy was inspired by the neuroscience Dorsey shared and the experiential practices she guided.

She had attended other meditation workshops in the past, but she felt most connected to Mastermind's universal language, which she was convinced could support her work in corporate leadership.

Excited to deepen her meditation practice and share mindfulness with other leaders, Christy enrolled in Mastermind’s Mindfulness Certification program in Fall 2020.

Now a fully certified facilitator, Christy has a thriving personal practice and shares mindfulness teachings with others in the corporate space. She credits mindfulness with connecting her to her inner world, inspiring her to be present in all things, and fostering more connection to her work on and off the cushion.
