As we continue Week II (Relationship Fouls) of March Madness where I am helping you WIN in your relationships, I want to share a relationship foul that some people find it hard not to commit: Not putting work before your partner.

I know, it's not easy. We live in a society where you're expected to work hard (I get it, stuff is expensive!). We must work hard in order to afford housing, food, vacations, etc. But don't let that ruin your relationship! Make sure you're pouring into your relationship just as much (or really MORE) as you are your job.

Some practical ways to do that include:
- As mentioned last week during the "warm up" eat dinner together and talk about your day / life / dreams / etc. and greet each other with love before you leave for work and when you get home.
- Designate a date night at least twice a month (even better if it's once a week) to spend 1-on-1 quality time with one another. Keep dating and pursuing each other! And BE ON TIME to date night. Give your partner the same respect you give your job (unless you're always late to work lol).
- Don't bring work home, but if you must, give yourself a hard stopping point. If you say until 7, you need to stop AT SEVEN, and then devote some time to your partner.
- Many jobs require continuing education or training to keep you updated on what's current in the industry. Are you meeting with your partner often to stay updated in their life? Are you reading your Bible, taking classes, and allowing yourself to learn and grow from your partner so you can be the best partner for them?

What are some ways you attempt to put your partner before work?

This week we're talking about Relationship Fouls, or some of the "no nos" you do in your relationships. Drs. John and Julie Gottman have studies couples for YEARS and were able to learn what can lead to a divorce or an unhappy marriage. Be sure to check out my other two videos that further break down the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Which of these fouls do YOU need to work on? Share in the comments!

It is Week II of March Madness πŸ€ where I am helping you WIN in your relationshipπŸ† ! This week we are talking about Relationship Fouls, or the things you and your partner do that can cost you the championship (a healthy relationship). πŸ‘¨πŸΎβ€β€οΈβ€πŸ‘©πŸΎ

The first Relationship Foul is from Drs. John and Julie Gottman, psychologists and relationship experts. They have studied marriages for DECADES and were able to discover the things that can lead to divorce or an unhappy relationship.

There are four major fouls that the Gottmans noticed in marriages that ended in divorce or unhappiness:
1. Defensiveness
2. Criticism
3. Contempt
4. Stonewalling

I have created a video explaining what each of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are: https://youtu.be/-vsQfVsMJR8?si=E0OLoes3Ic6u-hvi

I have also created a video giving examples of the Four Horsemen by using Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rW5TDTm-phY
