Did you know:

By reducing stress you can lower your blood pressure, relax muscle tension, slow your breathing, lower heart rate, and increase oxytocin production.

It is also really hard to not smile when petting a dog. Research also shows that holding a smile (even when you're faking it) tells your brain that you're happy.

When I was a little girl, in the early 80's, my Dad was a massage therapist. He worked at a fancy club and had big name clients. We went to the gym as a family in the mornings. We were in a happy place.
After I was out of highschool and had spent a year goofing off, it was time to make decisions for my future. Massage therapy was an obvious and immediate choice. It was in my blood.
When signing up at Texas Massage Institute, I was told that I should have a backup plan. That the career span of an LMT was 3-5 years. "You have to really want it, have passion, intuition, strength, and endurance. It won't be easy" I was told.
They were right, but I wasn't going to let that stop me.
I passed with an average score of over 100 ( I like extra credit). Passed my state exam at the top percentage, and immediately started working at Massage for Health. After the first 3 years of my new career, I was the only one out of my class still working as a full time massage therapist.
I worked for chiropractors, kinesiologists, nutritionists, and spas.
After jumping around the field to find where I fit, I opened Deeply Kneaded Massage in March of 2007. Working for myself felt like the best option. After all, I am from a family of entrepreneurs.
Thank you to my parents for helping me through school. Thank you to my amazing teachers for giving me the knowledge that I needed to survive in the industry. Thank you to my clients that have supported me (some from the very beginning). Thank you to my husband for standing by me through it all. Thank you to God for the intuition that is required in this profession.
I feel blessed all of the time.

Heads up, I will be unavailable March 4-9.
I will be celebrating the lives of the two women most dear to me. My Mom and my second Mom. It is best that I am in a peaceful place of reflection for this. There are a few appointments left before I leave.

I am back in town. This morning was full of catching up on voicemail and email that I missed. My reception was very spotty on the first half of the trip and non existent in some places. Hey y'all! I'm sure by now you've noticed that it's a bit cold and icy outside. I will be safely waiting for this crazy freeze to pass before I head back to work. Keep yourself hydrated, take some breaks from sitting to stretch and move your body.
It is amazing how much you can relax the body with a simple 5 minute foot massage. Trade with a partner or just give yourself some love. Can't reach your feet? Soak them in a nice warm tub or grab a tennis or golf ball and simply roll your feet on it.
Stretch your neck by slowly dropping your right ear to your right shoulder, return to starting position and repeat on left side. Now try turning your head to the right and gently move your chin to your shoulder. Return to start position and repeat on the left side. Slowly drop your chin to your chest, return to a neutral position and slowly lift chin to feel the front of the neck open. Be slow and gentle with all of these moves. Make sure to start each stretch from a neutral head forward position. Take your time, stretching is not about rushing.

Let me know what brings you to me. Do you just need to relax from a busy week? Did you over do it at the gym? Maybe you just need some pampering. Your massage is customized to your specific needs. Each massage is different and may utilize a mixture of modalities including:deep tissue,myo-fascial release, trigger point, as well as, Swedish relaxation techniques. You can also add Vibrational Sound Therapy(VST) to your massage for an optimal experience in relaxation. VST can be done alone or before and or after your massage.

All sessions are by appointment only. Same day appointments can be made at times, the earlier you schedule the better.

An 8 hour notice is appreciated for cancellations and rescheduling.
