✨ Guided Indian Grocery Tour + Traditional Thali Lunch ✨

Curious about Indian food but not sure where to start? On Sunday, August 17th, join me for a delicious and educational experience - a traditional vegetarian sit-down thali lunch at a newly opened restaurant (featuring a few dishes from my cookbook Dal Chawal), followed by a guided tour of a local Indian grocery store in Dallas.

We’ll explore the aisles together as I share pantry essentials, tips for storing and using spices, grains, legumes, and lentils, and how these ingredients bring flavor and nourishment to any vegetarian kitchen ❤️.

You’ll also receive a helpful info packet—and can purchase a signed copy of Dal Chawal at a special event price when you register.

💛 This one is extra special - it happens to be on my birthday and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with food, conversation, and community.

August always feels like a fresh chapter - full of possibility, celebration, and a little chaos too. It’s my birthday month, back-to-school season, and a time to say yes to joy, take new chances, and soak up time with my kids before routines return.

Since the book was released this spring, it’s been a season of beautiful momentum -- book talks, cooking demos, TV segments, generous reviews, and heartfelt tags from readers across the country and even across continents. This summer, I let myself slow down, spending more time in my own kitchen, cooking just for joy, and savoring the quiet. These little moments, these everyday meals, have been filling my cup in all the ways that matter.

And now…I’m ready to step back out and share more of Dal Chawal with the world.

✨ California, I’m coming!
Starting September 18, I’ll be heading to Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Bay Area for the next leg of the Dal Chawal tour—bringing stories, recipes, and conversation your way.

💛 💛💛 If you're in California, or know someone who might want to host a private event, author gathering, or bring a community together around food - please reach out. Let’s bring Dal Chawal to as many tables as possible 💛💛💛

Swipe through to see what’s been simmering lately in my kitchen. From slow afternoons to shared plates, this season has reminded me how much beauty lives in everyday cooking.

Immigrant voices carry more than stories. They carry strength, memory, and the quiet courage to keep going.

Last night was a powerful reminder of the stories that surround us. Listening to the journeys of my fellow awardees and standing among them was both humbling and deeply affirming.

To receive the Immigrant Journey Award with my mom and kids by my side and dear friends in the room was incredibly special. In a time when so many immigrant families are facing fear, barriers, and invisibility, this gathering felt like a quiet act of affirmation.

Our stories matter. Our journeys matter. And showing up for ourselves and each other matters.

Thank you to for creating a space where immigrant voices are not only seen but celebrated. Thank you for hosting the awards gala at your inspiring facility. And to my friends who came to stand beside me. Thank you for holding me through this journey.

✨ Honored. Grateful. Humbled. ✨

I’m incredibly honored to be one of the recipients of the 2025 Immigrant Journey Award—a recognition that feels deeply personal and meaningful.

As a first-generation immigrant from Mumbai, India, this journey has been about honoring where I come from while building something meaningful in the place I now call home. I came here to pursue graduate studies in nutrition, worked as a clinical dietitian for years, and slowly began shaping my path—founding beSPICED and writing Dal Chawal as a way to bring together tradition, healing, and home.

This award feels like a full-circle moment—not just for me, but for the quiet strength behind every immigrant story. The early days of uncertainty, the longing for familiarity, and the determination to build something meaningful from it all.

💛 I’d love for you to join me at the Immigrant Journey Awards Gala as we honor these shared journeys and celebrate community, resilience, and culture.

Happy World Book Day 📚

Today, I’m thinking about what it means to hold a book in your hands—especially one that carries tradition, memory, and the flavors of home.

When Dal Chawal was launched at the surrounded by art, community, and stories, it felt like more than a debut. It felt like a cultural offering. A tribute to the simple foods that nourish us and the deep roots that shape us.

Cookbooks aren’t just about recipes—they are living archives. They hold wisdom passed down through generations, preserve identity, and remind us of where we come from.

Dal Chawal is my way of honoring that lineage. A book to cook from, yes—but also to remember with, reflect with, and pass on.

This World Book Day, I celebrate every book that preserves our stories—and every reader who keeps them alive.

Dal Chawal, from my heart to yours.
