Marissa has been a nurse for 10 years. She started working PRN at the OSCD in 2011. In April 2012, she became a full-time employee.
"I love being a recovery nurse. My favorite part of the job is managing the airway. I get a lot of satisfaction caring for patients one on one. Having eye surgery can be an emotional experience. I enjoy caring for patients and families during this vulnerable time. Thank you for letting me represent the PACU and OSCD!"

Meet Holly Herron, our new Pre-Op/PACU Manager!
Holly has 10 years of combined experience in a variety of medical settings ranging from home health care, urgent care, primary care, ICU/MED SURG and surgical settings.
She has certification in BLS, ACLS and PALS.
Holly has been with OSCD as a Pre-op/PACU nurse since 2012. She can work autonomously and enjoys collaborating with a team to provide the best patient care possible. Holly hopes to continue growing her knowledge base as a nurse.

Meet Christina A. Auguste, our new SPD Coordinator!
Christina has been in healthcare for over 10 years. Her experience spans several multidisciplinary areas of the healthcare field including direct patient care, EMT, administrative and certified Sterile Processing Technician. She used her level of expertise to travel from East to West Coast and now to Texas to gaining two more certifications as a Certified Instrument Specialist and Certified Endoscopy Reprocessor.
Christina is on her way to complete her quadruple crown and hopes to receive her Certified Healthcare Leadership certification in 2019. Her goal is to help spread the importance of Sterile Processing for patient safety through education in her current role as SPD Coordinator.

OSCD recently collected medical supplies to donate to Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center and East Lake Veterinary Hospital. In less than two weeks, we were able to collect more than 1600 unused items - from bulb syringes to towels to surgical drapes - to help our amazing friends at DAS and East Lake take care of their furry patients!

Dr Vinod Mootha of UT Southwestern Medical Center and Dr Walter Beebe of Cornea Associates of Texas recently brought our team up to speed on the newest developments in the fight against Fuchs' Dystrophy, a corneal disorder that causes blurry vision.
OSCD provides tissues and blood samples to Dr. Mootha and his research team that are used in the study of Fuchs' Dystrophy.
We are grateful for Dr. Beebe and Dr. Mootha’s work with OSCD and for the opportunity to contribute to research that may someday bring an end to Fuchs’ Dystrophy.
Recent in-service training workshops presented by Dr. Vinod Mootha of UT Southwestern Medical Center and Dr. Walter Beebe of Cornea Associates of Texas provided the OSCD team with information regarding Fuchs' Endothelial Corneal Dystrophy, a corneal disorder that causes blurry vision.

OSCD is proud to announce the hiring of Blake Peart as Chief Executive Officer.
Blake has 18 years in senior management experience in healthcare. Most recently as CEO of Kindred Healthcare, he was recognized for “Best Hospital” for Employee Retention and Employee Satisfaction in 2018 from the Organization of LTACH Hospitals. Under his leadership Kindred Healthcare was awarded the 5K Hospital Quality Award for 2017 and 2018.
In addition to the quality accolades received at Kindred Healthcare, Blake increased physician recruitment by 27% over an 18 month period and increased the total number of procedures performed at the facility by approximately 32%.
“As a new member of our team, Blake brings a wealth of knowledge from his experiences in hospital administration, business development, academic administration and as a respiratory therapist,” said Tim Szott, Vice President of Operations for Surgical Care Affiliates. “Blake is a valuable addition to our leadership team and I look forward to his future successes with OSCD."
