Mom's Minute Newsletter
It's November, do you know how you will keep your family healthy this winter? This month’s Mom’s Minute shares my 3 winter musts—and when virtual care can handle pink eye, rashes, and those bedtime cough questions fast.
Winter is quickly approaching........
It feels like one minute the kids are running through sprinklers, and the next, we're bundling them up for chilly mornings. Winter brings so many cozy moments, but it can also bring a few sniffles along with it. As a mom, I know how much we all want to keep our families feeling their best, so I wanted to share a few things that help in my own home.
Here are a few quick, simple things our family relies on when the weather turns cold. I swear by these 😂
Local Elderberry Syrup. We do not get any money to advertise these products, truly these are our favorites! We keep a big jug of elderberry syrup from the McKinney Elderberry Company (https://www.mckinneyelderberry.com/) in our fridge all season long (honestly we use all year long!). The moment anyone feels a little tickle in their throat, we start taking a small dose every 4-6 hours for the first couple of days and feel so much better.
Daily Immune Support. Consistency is key! My kids take MaryRuth's immune (https://www.maryruthorganics.com/products/kids-organic-immunity-gummies) gummies and their multivitamin every single day. It’s a simple routine, and (knock on wood!) it’s been years since we’ve had the flu in our house.
Finally, I teach my kids to wash hands as soon as they come in from school. Washing hands (and having hand sanitizer on hand) is the most effective way to reduce germ transmission.
The simple stuff still works. Never underestimate the power of the basics: making sure everyone gets enough sleep, encouraging frequent handwashing (especially after school!), running a humidifier at night to help with dry air, and keeping water bottles full.
Mom's Choice Cares about Community
We understand that the government shutdown and ongoing economic challenges have made life harder for many families in our community. At Mom’s Choice Mobile Healthcare, we want to do our part to help. That’s why we’re offering free virtual care visits for all SNAP recipients through the end of the year.
If your family is facing financial hardship, please know this service is here for you—no strings attached, just genuine care when you need it most. Our clinicians can help with many common concerns, such as coughs, fevers, pink eye, rashes, mild injuries, and medication refills—all through a secure and private video visit.
Getting started is simple: just schedule a virtual appointment, select the SNAP option when you check in, and one of our team members will guide you through the next steps. If you’re unsure whether your health concern can be addressed virtually, don’t hesitate to reach out—our staff is happy to help you find the best path forward.
We hope this helps take a little bit of worry off your plate during these tough times. You’re not alone, and our whole team is here to support your family’s health, however we can.
When Getting Well Can't Wait
When things don't quite pan out as you like, Mom's Choice Mobile Healthcare is here when you need it.
Virtual Care: Your Secret Weapon This Season
What happens when a cough or rash appears after dinner? That’s where virtual care becomes a game-changer for parents. You can connect with one of our trusted clinicians from your couch, without having to bundle up the kids and leave the house.
Our virtual visits are perfect for many common kid concerns like colds, mild fevers, pink eye, rashes, and answering all those "Is this normal?" questions. We can assess your child’s symptoms, offer guidance, and send a prescription to your pharmacy if needed. It’s all done through a secure, private video call on your smartphone or computer—completely HIPAA compliant.
Of course, some things still need an in-person visit, like ear infections, strep tests, or injuries. If you're ever unsure, just start with a virtual visit! We can help you decide the best next step.
For now, feel free to save this for future reference. And if a cough or sniffle does show up, we’re just a click away.
