The New Moon will arrive on January 2, making this a powerful time to reflect and release.
I have found myself using a journal frequently this past year. Jotting down thoughts, dreams, feelings, and reminders for my grocery list. Putting thought to paper helps me keep myself in order.
Closing out this year I thought to do the same.
Take a page in my journal and wrap up the year: achievements, regrets, gains, losses, the happy and the sad.
Put it to paper.
Process it.
Place that final period and turn the page.
Happy New Year, everyone. We are going to make it a beautiful one together.

Feel like it's Monday all over again?
Sluggish, drained, just a bit cattywampus?
Despite their name, the we indulge in during the holidays can cause us a bit of discomfort in the days following. To help rebalance your body, I suggest this refreshing Celery Juice Tonic recipe (see below). Celery has significant anti-inflammatory properties; pair that with it being an alkaline vegetable, you can easily counteract acid reflux, joint pain, heartburn, or fatigue, just to name a few ailments.
If you don't have the time or energy to make this drink at home, shop for a product like "mad greens", I have found this product makes a nice alternative.

INGREDIENTS:
1 Bunch of Celery stalks separated
1 Large Organic Apple Sliced
1/2 bunch of Parsley or Cilantro
4 Sprigs of Fresh Mint (about 20 leaves) 1 Lemon
1 inch of ginger (optional)

Run through a high-speed juicer.

Prefer a smoothie?
Add in this order to blender:
1 cup filtered water or Vita Coco coconut water.
Chop celery and apple into chunks then add them along with parsley and mint into the blender.
Squeeze juice from lemon. A handful of ice is optional.
Blend at high speed until well blended.
Strain smoothie into a bowl using a sieve.
Pour into a glass or blender bottle and enjoy!

Note: If not in the mood to strain, add more cold water to thin out.

A Word from Our Owners...

We Have Sold Our Studio

We are writing to let you know we have sold our studio. Tim and I have dedicated the last 10 years of our lives serving one of the best communities around and have loved every minute of it. But now, with the arrival of our first grandchild in May 2022, it's time to focus on the family.

We know the value in the business is created through the support of customers like yourselves, and so we have worked hard to ensure that the ongoing business recognizes that customer interface support and processes are embedded in the underlying culture.

The new owner, Kelly Barraza, recognizes that the price she is paying includes premium for the goodwill that has been created through our good relationships with our existing customers, and so she is keen to ensure that she protects that value by working hard to keep existing customers happy.

We sought out a buyer who really appreciates the business, understands how to operate it properly, and is excited and capable of developing its future potential.

No major changes are planned for the studio in the short term. The BalancingEnergy name will remain until December 15th, 2021, when it will change to Harmony Yoga & Health. Kelly, however, will be seeking customer feedback to identify how additional customer value can be created.

The teachers support the sale and are positive about the future under the new management and will be staying on.

I may not be on the premises but will be around over the next two months through the transition arrangement to ensure a smooth handover of the studio, and both Kelly and I will be available to answer any questions.

As far as my plans for BalancingEnergy go, I won't completely retire, and will continue to offer my Holistic Health Coaching Programs, virtual and in person. I will be launching a new product to compliment the BE Calm and BE Love room spray line; a Crystal Infused Essential Oil so people can wear the fragrance, too. BE products and Nutrition Programs, articles and recipes, will be available on my newly designed website, coming soon.

We thank you, and we will miss you, but we will never forget you!

Thanksgiving Tips for Tackling a Big Meal:

⚬ Eat breakfast- 1 cup of raspberries, Greek Yogurt w/ cinnamon & tsp raw honey (21 g protein 8g fiber). It will fill you up and fire up your metabolism.

⚬ Start hydrating with water.

⚬ Exercise- 30 to 45 minutes; brisk walk, run, bike, elliptical, anything to get the heart and digestive system moving, and help with Turkey day stress.

⚬ If there is any fruit being served, eat it before your meal. It takes 30 minutes for fruit to break down in the gut and hours for the rest of the meal. Avoid bloat, gas, and discomfort with this small tip.

⚬ To satiate your palate, sample a little of everything:
1/4 cup of sides (stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, creamed anything) Pile on salad or veggies. Stick with 3-4 oz of Turkey for females and 6-8 for males. Drizzle gravy, no glugs. (800 cals in a cup of gravy, 70 cals in a tbsp).

⚬ Your brain takes around 20 minutes to register satiety. After your meal, the levels continue to rise over 10 to 30 minutes. They stay elevated for three to five hours following the meal, keeping you sated. In other words, eat slowly so you don't explode.

⚬ Join the conversation (you'll eat less) and make sure you avoid topics that will cause drumsticks to fly across the table.

⚬ Have fun. A good belly laugh will boost endorphins to create a feeling of well-being while strengthening your core!

⚬ Drink water with your wine. Red wines have more sulfites, which means more headaches.

⚬ Have a piece of pie-not the whole pie.

⚬ Easy substitutions:
Activated Charcoal will help with over-indulgence. Take a capsule or two before going to bed with a big glass of water, and you will be ready for Black Friday!
