🌍✨ New Series: Sober Travel Tips ✨🌍

We’re kicking off a brand-new series with Sazha Ramos, our VP of Military & Veteran Affairs. In it, she'll be sharing her best tips for having fun and traveling substance-free.

Tip #1: Surround yourself with like-minded travelers.
She recommends traveling with friends who know about—and are supportive of—your recovery. You want travel companions who will check in on your comfort level and also choose experiences that feed your soul, such as going on nature walks, visiting local cafés, and basking in moments of awe in beautiful places. 🌿☕💛

“When you share values with the people around you, travel feels lighter, easier, and more meaningful,” she says.

Now, we want to hear from you: What’s YOUR top sober travel tip? Share in the comments so we can build this resource together.

And if you're planning a trip, there are lots of resources that provide sober travel services 👉 https://loom.ly/4rF6wz8

It’s National Wellness Awareness Month, and we're almost a week in, so, how are you really doing?

In recovery, wellness isn’t just yoga mats and green smoothies.
It’s getting enough sleep.
It’s showing up for therapy.
It’s setting boundaries even when it’s uncomfortable.
It’s reconnecting with your body, your mind, and your people.

Wellness can feel messy. It’s not always picture-perfect, but it’s worth checking in with yourself. You don’t have to have it all figured out. Just start where you are.

Need some wellness-focused ideas to support your recovery?

“I am not my past, and it doesn’t have to define me.”

Ashley, a former Greenhouse Treatment Center patient, opens up about her journey from shame and self-doubt to healing and hope. 💚

It definitely wasn’t easy. Vulnerability in sobriety was new territory for Ashley, but thanks to compassionate clinicians and a powerful shift in perspective, she discovered that recovery isn’t about who you were but who you choose to become.

🧠 “Your brain is not your friend.”
That line from a group therapist stuck with her and helped her understand that lasting change means reworking not just behavior, but belief.

📺 You’d never know it from the broadcast, but just hours before going live on CNN, Beth McDonough had shattered her front teeth in a drunken fall.

In this "Addiction Talk" clip, the former TV crime reporter and author opens up about the hidden world of high-functioning addiction, where the image is polished, but the pain is private.

Emergency dental work gave her a temporary smile, but not the lasting wake-up call she needed. This is what it can look like to suffer in silence.

🎙️ Media Highlight: Univision Interview with Greenhouse Therapist Maria Esther Ontiveros-Flores

We're proud to share that our own Maria Esther Ontiveros-Flores, clinical lead therapist at Greenhouse Treatment Center, was recently featured on Noticias 23 Dallas Fort Worth to discuss the growing dangers of fentanyl in our communities.

As Maria Esther shared, fentanyl is increasingly being mixed with other substances like co***ne, m**h, and he**in, making them even more lethal. She stressed the importance of recognizing early warning signs in young people, including:

⚠️ Excessive fatigue.
⚠️ Loss of interest in school or activities.
⚠️ Emotional numbness or sadness.

“We’re seeing more young people lose motivation, joy, and direction, and often, it’s because they’re struggling silently with addiction,” she said.

She also highlighted the unique challenges facing Hispanic families, where both parents often work long hours, leaving teens with less supervision.

Her message? Stay connected. Stay informed. Ask questions. Your awareness could protect the people you love. 💙

You can watch the interview (in Spanish) using this link: https://loom.ly/Q_O4O9w
It takes places at 3:40 into the broadcast.
