Canter works in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders clinic. Each day looks a little different, you can typically catch her visiting with families in the day hospital, cuddling up with a patient in the teen room or providing comfort during a difficult procedure or emotional conversation. Canter has an amazing ability to remain calm and knows just what people need. She is known for her soft ears and sassy personality. Share with us what you love about Canter!

At 9 years old, Levi and his family were shocked to learn he had medulloblastoma, a type of brain cancer. This led to intense treatment including 2 brain surgeries within 72 hours, 30 rounds of radiation and 7 months of chemotherapy.

Through a tough year of treatment, Levi's goal was to meet all our therapy dogs. Shortly after meeting this goal, he got to ring the bell, signifying the end of his treatment. Join us in congratulating Levi!

In 2002, Seth and Tate were born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. Born strangers, they would soon become lifelong friends. Both boys began the journey of undergoing multiple lifesaving surgeries under the care of our physicians in the Heart Center.

They recently became roommates as they started their fall semester at The University of Texas at Dallas. One of the boy's mothers gifted them a photo of Einstein playing golf to hang in their new home, as Tate is an avid golfer and Seth has a love for astrophysics! Good luck in college, Seth and Tate! Now, after 3 years of treatment, Addi officially rang the bell in celebration of her remission this summer. When Charlotte's care team discovered she had a cleft palate, her mom, Alyssa, occupational therapist at Children’s Health Specialty Center Waxahachie, knew her daughter was in the right hands. Our team of Pediatric Plastic and Craniofacial Surgery successfully completed Charlotte's palate repair at 9 months old.

Shortly after, Alyssa discovered Charlotte developed a heart murmur. Our experts in the Heart Center successfully preformed open heart surgery to repair her Atrial Septal Defect, and she is now a happy and healthy 5-year-old!

In 2019, Justin was diagnosed with severe pectus excavatum, which made it hard for him to take deep breaths. He had a successful surgery with Dr. Adam Alder, pediatric thoracic and general surgeon, and associate professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, who specializes in pectus and chest wall anomalies. After following a closely monitored home recovery plan, Justin is now back doing what he loves, racing. Justin is beyond thankful for the exceptional care he received at Children’s Health and is glad to be back on the track! 🏎️
