I've noticed that people tend to measure success by whether or not they fit a society dictated by looks, rather than on actually being fit and healthy. Our society has us believing that if someone is considered thin or “normal” weight, they must be healthy and fit. This couldn't be further from the truth!
Instead of setting a GOAL measured by inches, pounds or some unrealistic body size you've seen in a magazine, try setting a GOAL measured by specific ACTIONS taken towards living a healthier and more active lifestyle!
There are many reasons why an individual may have a specific body size or weight -- yo-yo dieting, genetics, medications, low self-esteem, eating disorders and much more. Since we don't have complete control over body size or weight, why not turn the focus to something in which we do have more control... Our ACTIONS!
Now, hear me, hear me... I am NOT saying forget about weight completely and sit around eating chocolate bon-bons all day. I am simply saying to shift your focus off of weight and onto healthy ACTIONS, such as, healthy eating, fitness activities, and self-care!
I challenge you right here right now to change your mindset. Instead of waiting until your weight changes to feel successful, you can take action today to change your life. There's no better day than today to take your first baby step towards a happier, healthier YOU! And, that is what being "HOT" is all about... empowering yourself to become the happiest, healthiest, most authentically awesome YOU possible!!
You say, you don't have time to go to the gym... I say, it's time to stop with the excuses. Start today.. take some action and responsibility for your own health and happiness. I'm Perfectly ImPerfect!!
And I’m good with that! How about you? :)
This has been weighing heavy on my mind lately for several reasons...a few of which I want to touch on today. I've had several friends, acquaintances, clients, etc. comment on how "perfect" my life is, I am, my marriage is, etc... And although I thank God every day for the many blessings he has given me, perfect I am not. We, humans are not perfect… only God is perfect!
I make mistakes - some big, some small. I fall, sometimes harder than others, However, I learn from my mistakes, and I get up from my falls. I wake up with bad hair days, not-so-pretty days, and just plain “I should have stayed in bed” days. I have stressed-out days, and days I feel like I’m carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders… although I am really, really working on this one! :) But as I see it, as long as I'm striving to better myself with each new day by using the lessons I learned and tools I gained from the day(s) before (knowledge, courage, strength, love, relaxation, faith, dedication, gratitude, etc.), then I figure I'll always be moving forward in the right direction, which is towards that state of "perfection" that exists somewhere in each of our minds.
When I really think about what I want in life, it's not a perfect life or perfect marriage... I want a "worth it" life and "worth it" marriage! And I don't want to be perfect...I want to be "worth it!" Because, let's face it... I'm not perfect, but I'm perfectly imperfect!!! And I’m good with that!
