Every birth story is unique.🤰 For some moms, it may involve cesarean delivery, also known as a C-section. Doctors perform this major abdominal surgery for a variety of reasons, often related to complications during pregnancy or delivery. If you’re expecting a baby, it’s important to understand the risks and benefits of the procedure. For example, having a C-section increases the chance that you will need a C-section for future deliveries.

Each year, more than 200,000 babies are born in hospitals across our broader HCA Healthcare network. If you’re expecting and exploring your birth options – including when a C section might be recommended – finding the right obstetrician is an important first step. As a proud partner of March of Dimes, HCA Healthcare is committed to improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through clinical data, pioneering research and compassionate care. Learn more about C-sections from March of Dimes: https://bit.ly/4aOITfl

Every year in the U.S., around 900,000 people are diagnosed with serious blood clots, also called venous thromboembolisms (VTEs). More than half of these patients are hospitalized, and many don’t realize what’s happening until symptoms send them to the emergency room. Recognizing the warning signs early – and seeking care fast – can save lives.

Medical City McKinney is proud to announce the successful completion of our first two Left Atrial Appendage Closure (LAAC) implants.

This milestone represents our continued commitment to bringing advanced cardiac care close to home for the communities we serve.

The minimally-invasive procedure is designed to reduce stroke risk in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation who are seeking an alternative to long-term blood thinners.

We are also excited to share that our team can now perform a LAAC procedure and cardiac AFib ablation during the same visit for appropriate patients. Combining these procedures can streamline care, reduce recovery time and enhance patient convenience.

We look forward to continuing to expand innovative heart care services right here in McKinney.

❤️ Have you heard of ? It happens when the heart's electrical signals fall out of rhythm, which can lead to an irregular heartbeat and a range of symptoms. Some arrhythmias are harmless, while others may need more attention.

Arrhythmias can affect anyone. If your heartbeat feels a little "off" or you're noticing unusual symptoms, it's best to get it checked out. If you're experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath or fainting, seek emergency care right away.

If you'd like to get your symptoms checked and it's not something requiring emergency care, schedule an appointment with one of our cardiologists: https://bit.ly/4awrZ3J
